Soil quality - Determination of soil water content as a volume fraction using coring sleeves - Gravimetric method (ISO 11461:2001)

This International Standard specifies a method for the gravimetric determination of soil water content as a volume fraction. The method is applicable to all types of non-swelling or non-shrinking soils where coring sleeves can be used for sampling. It is not applicable to soils where stones, tough roots or other factors prevent collection of soil cores. It is used as a reference method (e.g. the calibration of indirect methods for determination of water content).  NOTE The determination of water content as a mass fraction is described in ISO 11465.

Bodenbeschaffenheit - Bestimmung des Wassergehaltes des Bodens als Volumenanteil mittels Stechzylinder - Gravimetrisches Verfahren (ISO 11461:2001)

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren für die gravimetrische Bestimmung des Wassergehalts von Böden als Volumenanteil fest.
Dieses Verfahren kann auf alle Arten von nicht-quellschrumpfenden Böden angewendet werden, die mit Stechzylindern beprobt werden können. Das Verfahren ist nicht anwendbar bei Böden mit Steinen, starken Wurzeln oder anderen Einflüssen, die die Entnahme von Bodenkernen verhindern. Es kann als Referenzverfahren verwendet werden (z. B. für die Kalibrierung indirekter Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Wassergehaltes).
ANMERKUNG   Die Bestimmung des Wassergehaltes als Massenanteil ist in  ISO 11465 festgelegt.

La présente Norme internationale spécifie une méthode de détermination gravimétrique de la teneur en eau du sol en fraction volumique.  Cette méthode s'applique à tous les types de sols non gonflant et sans retrait pour lesquels des carottiers peuvent être utilisés pour l'échantillonnage. Elle ne s'applique pas aux sols où des pierres, des grosses racines ou d'autres facteurs empêchent de prélever des carottes. Elle est utilisée comme méthode de référence (par exemple étalonnage de méthodes indirectes pour la détermination de la teneur en eau).

Standard ISO 11461 določa metodo za gravimetrijsko določevanje količine vode v tleh kot prostorninskega deleža. Ta metoda se uporablja za vse vrste tal, ki ne nabrekajo in se ne krčijo ter pri katerih se za vzorčenje lahko uporabi vrtalne naprave. Ne uporablja se za tla, pri katerih kamenje, trde korenine ali drugi dejavniki preprečujejo vzorčenje. Uporablja se kot referenčna metoda (npr. pri umerjanju posrednih metod za določevanje količine vode).

The text of ISO 11461:2001 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 190 “Soil quality” of the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO 11461:2014 by
Technical Committee CEN/TC 345 “Characterization of soils” the secretariat of which is held by NEN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 2014, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by September 2014.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
