This International Standard establishes a coding system to achieve identification of any small craft hull, concerning: - identification code of the country; - identification code of the manufacturer; - serial number; - month and year of production; - model year. It applies to small craft of all types and materials, of length of hull of up to 24 m. It does not apply to beach or bathing toys.

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Codierungssystem fest, nach dem der Schiffskörper jedes kleinen Wasserfahrzeuges zu identifizieren ist. Es besteht aus: - Identifizierungs-Code des Landes; - Identifizierungs-Code des Herstellers; - Seriennummer; - Monat und Jahr der Herstellung; - Modelljahr. Diese Norm wird für kleine Wasserfahrzeuge aller Bauarten und aus allen Werkstoffen mit einer Länge des Schiffskörpers (Lh) bis 24m angewendet. Sie gilt nicht für Strand- und Badeboote.

Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide
federation of national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work
of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through IS0
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for
which a technical committee has been established has the right to be
represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental
and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. IS0
collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission
(IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are
circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an International
Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting

International Standard IS0 10087 was prepared by Technical Committee
lSO/TC 188, Small craft.
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition
(IS0 10087:1990), mainly modifying the presentation of the HIN.
