Fireworks - Part 25: Party Poppers - Specification and test methods

This European Standard specifies requirements for the construction, performance, primary packaging and labelling of party poppers and the corresponding test methods. It is applicable to fireworks which are classified as party poppers in category 1 of EN 14035-2 and which are contained in a primary pack.
It is applicable to party poppers which contain up to 10 mg of pyrotechnic composition that is based on potassium chlorate and red phosphorous.
It is not applicable to party poppers containing pyrotechnic composition that includes any of the following substances:
   arsenic or arsenic compounds;
   mixtures containing a mass fraction of chlorates greater than 80 percent;
   mixtures of chlorates with metals;
   mixtures of chlorates with potassium hexacyanoferrate(II);
   mixtures of chlorates with sulfur;
   mixtures of chlorates with sulfides;
   lead or lead compounds;
   mercury compounds;
   white phosphorus;
   picrates or picric acid;
   potassium chlorate with a mass fraction of bromates greater than 0,15 percent;
   sulfur with an acidity, expressed in mass fraction of sulphuric acid, greater than 0,002 percent;
   zirconium with a particle size of less than 40 mm.
NOTE   In EN 14035-2, party poppers are classified as follows:
- brief description: device operated by a pull-string with an abrasive surface in sliding contact with a friction-sensitive pyrotechnic composition and designed to be held in the hand;
- principal effects: report, with ejection of streamers and/or confetti.
Schemes for type testing of party poppers and batch testing of party poppers are specified in annex A and annex B respectively.

La présente norme européenne spécifie les exigences de construction, performance, conditionnement et étiquetage des party-poppers, ainsi que les méthodes d’essai correspondantes. Elle s’applique aux artifices de divertissement classés comme party-poppers de catégorie 1 dans l’EN 14035 2 et qui sont contenus dans un emballage primaire.
Elle s’applique aux party-poppers contenant jusqu’à 10 mg de composition pyrotechnique de chlorate de potassium et de phosphore rouge.
Elle ne s’applique pas aux party-poppers dont la composition comprend l’une des substances suivantes :
-   arsenic ou composés d’arsenic ;
-   mélanges contenant une fraction en masse de chlorates supérieure à 80 % ;
-   mélanges de chlorates et de métaux ;
-   mélanges de chlorates et d’hexacyanoferrate (II) de potassium ;
-   mélanges de chlorates et de soufre ;
-   mélanges de chlorates et de sulfures ;
-   plomb ou composés de plomb ;
-   composés de mercure ;
-   phosphore blanc ;
-   picrates ou acide picrique ;
-   chlorate de potassium contenant une fraction en masse de bromates supérieure à 0,15 % ;
-   soufre présentant une acidité, exprimée en fraction de masse d’acide sulfurique supérieure à 0,002 % ;
-   zirconium ayant une taille de particule inférieure à 40 mm.
NOTE   Dans l’EN 14035-2, les party-poppers sont classés comme suit :
-   description abrégée : dispositif actionné par une ficelle-tirette, avec une surface abrasive dans le contact glissant, dont la composition pyrotechnique est sensible à la friction, et conçu pour être tenu à la main ;
-   effets principaux : effet sonore, avec éjection de serpentins et/ou de confettis.
Les schémas d'essais de type et d'essais de lot des party-poppers sont respectivement spécifiés aux Annexes A et B.
