(Main)Space product assurance - Measurements of the peel and pull-off strength of coatings and finishes using pressure-sensitive tapes
Space product assurance - Measurements of the peel and pull-off strength of coatings and finishes using pressure-sensitive tapes
This Standard details a test in which pressure‐sensitive tapes are used to assess
the suitability of, for example, coatings, paints, films and other thin materials,
proposed for use on spacecraft and associated equipment.
Surface coatings, such as thermal control paints and corrosion protection
coatings, are affected, both on the ground and after launch, by exposure to the
environment.
It is therefore important that the adhesion of the coating to the relevant
substrate remains at an acceptable level after exposure to the relevant
environmental condition.
The following materials and assemblies are covered by this test method:
organic coating, e.g. varnishes, paints and plastic films;
metallic finishes on, for example, printed circuit boards, second‐surface
mirrors, thermal radiators, plastic films;
adhesive layers;
composite thin films;
small assemblies, e.g. solar cells having attached glass covers.
This standard may be tailored for the specific characteristics and constrains of a
space project in conformance with ECSS‐S‐ST‐00.

Zagotavljanje varnih proizvodov v vesoljski tehniki - Merjenje lupilne in odtržne trdnosti prevlek in oblog z uporabo trakov, občutljivih na tlak
Ta standard opisuje preskus, pri katerem se uporabljajo trakovi, občutljivi na tlak, za oceno ustreznosti npr. premazov, barv, filmov in drugih tankih materialov, ki se predlagajo za uporabo pri vesoljskih plovilih in povezani opremi. Na površinske premaze, kot so barve za nadzor toplote in premazi za protikorozijsko zaščito, na tleh in po izstrelitvi vpliva izpostavljenost okolju. Zato je pomembno, da sprijemljivost premaza na ustrezno podlago ostane na sprejemljivi ravni po izpostavljenosti ustreznemu okoljskemu pogoju. Ta preskusna metoda obravnava naslednje materiale in sestave: • organske premaze, npr. lake, barve in plastične filme;
• kovinske obloge na npr. ploščah tiskanih vezij, ogledalih z drugo površino, toplotnih sevalih, plastičnih filmih;
• adhezivne sloje;
• sestavljene tanke filme;
• majhne sestave, npr. sončne celice s pritrjenimi steklenimi pokrovi. Ta standard se lahko prilagodi posameznim lastnostim in omejitvam vesoljskega projekta v skladu s standardom ECSS-S-ST-00.

Principles
This Standard details a test in which pressure-sensitive tapes are used to assess
the suitability of, for example, coatings, paints, films and other thin materials,
proposed for use on spacecraft and associated equipment.
This test has nine test steps as outlined in Figure 4-1.
Preparation: See 5.2.1
1. Mount sample in sample holder, see 5.2.1.1.
2. Condition for nominal 24 hours at (22 ± 3) ºC, RH (55 ±10) %,
see 5.2.1.2.
Peel and pull-off test: See 5.2.2
3. Prepare tape holder: Locate tape over rubber block and clamp in
place, see Annex B a.3 - 5.
4. Mount sample and tape holders in test machine,
see Annex B a.6 and 7.
5. Raise jig until sample touches surface of tape,
see Annex B a.8.
6. Compress sample onto tape with load of nominal 5 kg for a
nominal 60 seconds, see Annex B a.9.
7. Reverse compression by pulling apart tape and sample at a
nominal 0,2 cm/min until separation occurs, see Annex B a.10.
8. Additional test:
If separation is between tape and sample surface without damage,
repeat steps 3 to 7 above using tape with higher peel strength,
see Annex B a.11. - 13.
9. Acceptance criteria, see 5.3.
