Packaging - Complete, filled transport packages and unit loads - Horizontal impact tests (ISO 2244:2000)

This International Standard specifies methods of horizontal impact testing (horizontal or inclined plane test and
pendulum test) on a complete, filled transport package or a unit load. The test may be performed either as a single
test to investigate the effects of horizontal impact or as part of a sequence of tests designed to measure the ability
of a package or a unit load to withstand a distribution system that includes a horizontal impact hazard.

In dieser Internationalen Norm werden Verfahren zur Durchführung horizontaler Stoßprüfungen (mit waage-rechter oder schiefer Ebene sowie mit Pendel) an versandfertigen Packstücken oder Ladeeinheiten festge-legt. Die Prüfung darf entweder als Einzelprüfung durchgeführt werden, um den Einfluss eines waagerechten Stoßes zu untersuchen oder als Teil einer Prüffolge zur Ermittlung der Widerstandsfähigkeit einer Ver-packung oder Ladeeinheit im Rahmen eines bestimmten Verteilungssystems (Transportkette), das eine hori-zontale Stoßbeanspruchung einschließt.

La présente Norme internationale spécifie une méthode d'essai de choc horizontal (essai sur un plan horizontal ou
incliné et essai au pendule) sur un emballage d'expédition complet et plein ou sur une charge unitaire. Un tel essai
peut être effectué comme essai simple dans le but d'examiner les effets d'un choc horizontal, ou il peut faire partie
d'une série d'essais destinés à mesurer la résistance d'un emballage ou d'une charge unitaire dans un système de
distribution qui comprend un risque de choc horizontal.

Foreword
The text of the International Standard from Technical Committee ISO/TC 122 "Packaging" of the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has been taken over as a European
Standard by Technical Committee CEN/TC 261 "Packaging", the secretariat of which is held by
AFNOR.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of
an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by March 2003, and conflicting national
standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by March 2003.
This document supersedes EN 22244:1992.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of
the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Czech
Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg,
