Metallic and other inorganic coatings - Electrodeposited coatings of tin-cobalt alloy (ISO 26945:2008)

ISO 26945:2008 specifies electroplated coatings of tin-cobalt alloy of approximate composition 75 % (mass fraction) to 80 % (mass fraction) tin, remainder cobalt, as a substitute for decorative chromium coating of 0,1 �m to 0,3 �m thickness. Hardness and wear resistance properties of the coatings obtained are not equivalent to those of chromium coatings, but similar to those of tin-nickel alloy coatings.
Tin-cobalt alloy coatings can be applied by rack or barrel plating processes.
ISO 26945:2008 does not specify requirements for the surface condition of the basis metal prior to electroplating.

Diese Internationale Norm legt galvanische Überzüge aus Zinn-Cobalt-Legierungen mit einer Zusammensetzung
von etwa 75 % (Massenanteil) bis 80 % (Massenanteil) Zinn, Rest Cobalt, als möglichen Ersatz für
dekorative Chromüberzüge mit einer Dicke des Überzugs von 0,1 µm bis 0,3 µm fest. Härte und
Verschleißwiderstand von Zinn-Cobalt-Überzügen entsprechen nicht den Eigenschaften von
Chromüberzügen, sind aber vergleichbar mit den Eigenschaften von Zinn-Nickel-Legierungsüberzügen.
Zinn-Cobalt-Legierungsüberzüge können auf Trommel- oder Gestellware aufgebracht werden.
Diese Internationale Norm stellt keine Anforderungen an den Oberflächenzustand des Grundmetalls vor der
galvanischen Metallabscheidung.

L'ISO 26945:2008 sp�cifie des rev�tements �lectrolytiques d'alliage �tain-cobalt dont la composition est approximativement de 75 % (fraction massique) � 80 % (fraction massique) d'�tain et le reste de cobalt, pouvant remplacer des d�p�ts de chrome d�coratifs de 0,1 μm � 0,3 �m d'�paisseur. Les propri�t�s de duret� et de r�sistance � l'usure des rev�tements d'alliage �tain-cobalt ne sont pas �quivalentes � celles des d�p�ts de chrome mais elles sont similaires � celles des d�p�ts d'alliage �tain‑nickel.
Ces rev�tements peuvent �tre appliqu�s par la technique de d�p�t � l'attache ou au tonneau.
L'ISO 26945:2008 ne sp�cifie aucune exigence concernant l'�tat de surface du m�tal de base avant d�p�t �lectrolytique.

This document (EN ISO 26945:2008) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 107 "Metallic and
other inorganic coatings" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 262 "Metallic and other inorganic
coatings", the secretariat of which is held by BSI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2009, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
the latest by June 2009.
