This document specifies a screening test method for determining the resistance of geotextiles and geotextile-related products to oxidation. The test is applicable to products as follows:
— Method A for material consisting solely in polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyamide (PA), aramide (AR);
— Method B for material consisting solely in polyvinyl alcohol (PVAL).
The data are suitable for screening purposes but not for deriving performance data such as lifetime, unless supported by further evidence.

Dieses Dokument legt ein Auswahlprüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der Oxidationsbeständigkeit von Geotextilien und geotextilverwandten Produkten fest. Die Prüfung ist auf Produkte wie folgt anwendbar:
— Verfahren A für Werkstoffe, die nur aus Polypropylen (PP), Polyethylen (PE), Polyamid (PA), Aramid (AR) bestehen;
— Verfahren B für Werkstoffe, die nur aus Polyvinylalkohol (PVAL) bestehen.
Die Daten eignen sich für Auswahlzwecke, jedoch nicht zur Ableitung von Leistungskennwerten, wie Nutzungsdauer, falls sie nicht durch weitere Untersuchungsergebnisse gestützt werden.

Le présent document spécifie une méthode de détermination de la résistance à l'oxydation des géotextiles et des produits apparentés. L'essai est applicable aux produits décrits ci-dessous:
— Méthode A, pour les matériaux exclusivement à base de polypropylène (PP), de polyéthylène (PE), de polyamide (PA), d'aramide (AR);
— Méthode B, pour les matériaux exclusivement à base de d'alcool polyvinylique (PVAL).
Les données de l'essai conviennent à des fins de détermination et non pour l'évaluation de performances telles que la durée de vie sauf si elles sont étayées par des preuves supplémentaires.

Ta mednarodni standard določa preskusno presejalno metodo za ugotavljanje odpornosti geotekstilij in geotekstilijam sorodnih izdelkov proti oksidaciji. Preskus se uporablja za izdelke na osnovi polipropilena in polietilena.
Podatki so primerni za preskušanje, ne pa za pridobivanje podatkov o zmogljivosti, kot je življenjska doba, razen če so podprti z dodatnimi dokazi.

This document (EN ISO 13438:2018) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 221
"Geosynthetics" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 189 “Geosynthetics” the secretariat
of which is held by NBN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2019, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by June 2019.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 13438:2004.
