This European Standard specifies, dimensions, materials and performance requirements (including methods of test) for expansion groups, of nominal sizes from DN 15 to DN 40, having working pressures from 0,1 MPa (1 bar) to 1,0 MPa (10 bar). Expansion groups are intended for fitting to the cold water supply of storage water heaters, having a maximum distribution temperature of 95°C, for all energy sources. Expansion groups limit pressure, in the water heater to which they are fitted, that is produced by thermal expansion of the water.

Diese Europäische Norm legt Maße, Werkstoffe und Leistungsanforderungen (einschließlich der Prüfverfahren) für Sicherheitsgruppen für Expansionswasser in den Nennweiten DN 15 bis DN 40 mit Arbeitsdrücken) von 0,1 MPa (1 bar) bis 1 Mpa (10 bar) fest. Sicherheitsgruppen für Expansionswasser sind für die Ausrüstung der Kaltwasserversorgung von Speicherwassererwärmern mit einer maximalen Gebrauchstemperatur von 95° C, unabhängig von den verwendeten Energiequellen bestimmt.

La présente norme européenne spécifie les dimensions, la nature des matériaux et les exigences de performance (y compris les méthodes d'essai) auxquelles doivent satisfaire les groupes d'expansion pour des dimensions nominales de DN 15 à DN 40 et avec des pressions de service de 0,1 MPa (1 bar) à 1,0 MPa (10 bar). Les groupes d'expansion sont destinés à être installés sur le circuit d'eau froide des chauffe-eau à accumulation, dont la température ne dépasse pas 95°C, quelque soit le mode d'énergie utilisé.

Hydraulic safety groups do not control the temperature. They ensure the hydraulic safety of water heaters if the mechanical resistance of the water heater remains at least equal to the rating pressure.
NOTE   The use of the device specified in this European Standard does not override the need to use controls (e.g. thermostats and cut-outs) which act directly on the power sources of water heaters.
