Overview

EN 60335-2-5:2015/A11:2019 is a CENELEC amendment to the European safety standard for household and similar electrical appliances - Part 2-5: Particular requirements for dishwashers. Adopted in July 2019 and nationalized in many member countries, this amendment updates construction and test requirements to reduce flooding and water-related hazards in domestic dishwashers. It is intended to be used together with EN 60335-1 (Part 1) to demonstrate conformity with the Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU).

• Regulatory alignment: Annex ZZA maps clauses to the safety objectives of Directive 2014/35/EU (Low Voltage Directive), supporting presumption of conformity when cited in the Official Journal.

This amendment A11 modifies the European Standard EN 60335-2-5:2015; it was approved by CENELEC on 2019-07-23. CENELEC
members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the
status of a national standard without any alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on application to the CEN-CENELEC
Management Centre or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language made by translation under the

1 Modification to clause 22, "Construction"
Add the following new sub-clause:
22.Z101 Appliances shall be so designed that they prevent flooding as a result of:
– uncontrolled water flow to the appliance, or
– a blocked drain outlet.
NOTE For the purpose of this requirement, safety devices situated outside the appliance are also included, for example
those incorporated in the inlet hose, provided that the devices are fixed to the appliance and cannot be replaced without
the aid of a tool.
Compliance is checked by inspection and by the tests of 22.Z102 and 22.Z103.
The appliance is operated at rated voltage and under normal operation conditions, placed on a horizontal
surface.
The outlet (drain hose) is arranged in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. The hose height is to
be the maximum permissible according to the manufacturer's instructions.
During the tests, not more than 0,5 l of water shall flow out from the appliance and the appliance shall show
no trace of water on parts that could result in a failure of Clause 29.
