BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 678, Modules and diametral pitches of straight bevel gears
jOr getieral etigineering and heavy engineering, was drawn up by Technical Committee
ISO/TC 60, Gears, the Secretariat of which is held by the institut Belge de Normali-
sation (IBN).
Work on this question by the Technical Committee began in 1962 and led, in
1965, to the adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 678, Modules et diametral pitches des engrenages coniques
à denture droite de mécanique générale et de grosse mécanique, a été élaborée par le Comité
Technique ISO/TC 60, Engrenages dont le Secrétariat est assuré par l'Institut Belge
de Normalisation (Ii3N).
Les travaux relatifs à cettequestion furent entrepris par le Comité Technique
en 1962 et aboutirent, en 1965, à l'adoption d'un Projet de Recommandation ISO.
En décembre 1965, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (No 884) fut soumis à
l'enquête de tous les Comités Membres de 1'ISO. I1 fut approuvé, sous réserve de
quelques modifications d'ordre rédactionnel, par les Comités Membres suivants :
