BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 758, Method for the determination of density of liquids at
20 OC, was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 47, Chemistry, the Secretariat of which is
held by the Ente Nazionale Italian0 di Unificazione (UNI).
Work on this question by the Technical Committee began in 1956 and led, in 1962, to the
adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In November 1963, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 657) was circulated to all the IS0
Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of an editorial nature, by

I. SCOPE
This IS0 Recommendation describes a reference method for the determination of the density of
liquids at 20 OC.
2. DEFINITION
The density at 20 "C of a material is the mass of unit volume of the material at a temperature of
20 OC. It is expressed in grammes per millilitre.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 758, Méthode de détermination de la masse volumique des liquides
à 20 OC, a été élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 47, Chimie, dont le Secrétariat est assuré par
l'Ente Nazionale Italian0 di Unificazione (UNI).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question furent entrepris par le Comité Technique en 1956 et abou-
tirent, en 1962, à l'adoption d'un Projet de Recommandation ISO.
En novembre 1963, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (NO 657) fut soumis à l'enquête de tous
les Comités Membres de l'IS0. I1 fut approuvé, sous réserve de quelques modifications d'ordre rédac-
tionnel, par les Comités Membres suivants :

1. OBJET
La présente Recommandation IS0 décrit une méthode de référence pour la détermination dé la masse
volumique des liquides à 20 OC.
2. DÉFINITION
La masse volumique à 20 OC d’un produit est la masse de l’unité de volume de ce produit à la
température de 20 OC. Elle s’exprime en grammes par millilitre.
