BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 1173, Assembly tools for bolts and screws - Hexagon drive ends for power tools,
was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 29, Small tools, the Secretariat of which is held by the Association
Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).
L Work on this question led to the adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In October 1968, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 1705) was circulated to aii the IS0 Member Bodies for
enquiry. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of an editorial nature, by the following Member Bodies :

Czechoslovakia Italy U.A.R.
France Poland United Kingdom
Germany Portugal US .S .R.

No Member Body opposed the approval of the Draft.
This Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted by correspondence to the IS0 Council, which decided,
in January 1970, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDATION.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 1 173, Outils de manœuvre des vis et écrous - Hexagones conducteurs pour outils
à machine, a été élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 29, Petit outillage, dont le Secrétariat est assuré par
l’Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).
Les travaux relatifs à ce sujet aboutirent à l’adoption d’un Projet de Recommandation ISO.

En octobre 1968, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (NO 1705) fut soumis à l’enquête de tous les Comités
Membres de I’ISO. I1 fut approuvé, sous réserve de quelques modifications d’ordre rédactionnel, par les Comités
Membres suivants :

La présente Recommandation ISO, relative aux outils de manœuvre des vis et écrous, concerne les hexagones
conducteurs pour outils à machine.
