Rubber — Vocabulary

This document establishes a vocabulary of and is limited to those terms in general use throughout the rubber industry. It does not define terms intended for particular rubber products, some of which are given in the vocabulary standards listed in the Bibliography. It does not define terms that are generally understood or adequately defined in other readily available sources such as general dictionaries. The terms are listed in the alphabetical order of the English terms, with an index to the corresponding English terms attached. Symbols are included under their full descriptions.

Le présent document établit un vocabulaire relatif aux termes d'usage général dans l'industrie du caoutchouc et s'y limite. Il ne définit pas les termes applicables à des produits en caoutchouc particuliers; certains de ces termes sont donnés dans les normes de vocabulaire énumérées en Bibliographie. Il ne définit pas les termes qui sont généralement compris ou définis de manière adéquate dans d'autres sources facilement disponibles telles que des dictionnaires généraux. Les termes sont présentés par ordre alphabétique des termes anglais, avec un index français correspondant aux termes anglais équivalents. Les symboles sont inclus sous leur description complète.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards
bodies (ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out
through ISO technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical
committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International
organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of
electrotechnical standardization.
The procedures used to develop this document and those intended for its further maintenance are
described in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 1. In particular, the different approval criteria needed for the
different types of ISO documents should be noted. This document was drafted in accordance with the
editorial rules of the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2 (see www .iso .org/ directives).
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of

L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale d'organismes
