BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 958, Wrapping test for aluminium and aluminium alloy wire, was
drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 79, Light metals and their alloys, the Secretariat of which
is held by the Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).
Work on this question led in, 1966, to the adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In March 1967, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 1138) was circulated to all the IS0
Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of an editorial nature,
by the following Member Bodies :

Chile Japan Turkey
Czechoslovakia Netherlands U.A.R.
France New Zealand United Kingdom
Germany Norway U.S.A.
Greece Poland U.S.S.R.

No Member Body opposed the approval of the Draft.
The Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted by correspondence to the IS0 Council,
which decided, in January 1969, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDATION.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 958, Essai d’enroulement des fils en aluminium et allulges d’alumi-
nium, a été élaborée par le Comité Technique lSO/TC 79, Métaux légers et leurs alliages, dont le
Secretariat est assuré par l’Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question aboutirent, en 1966, à l’adoption d’un Projet de Recom-
mandation ISO.
En mars 1967, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (NO 1138) fut soumis à l’enquête de tous les
Comités Membres de I’ISO. I1 fut approuvé, sous réserve de quelques modifications d’ordre rédaction-
nel, par les Comités Membres suivants :

Allemagne Italie Suisse
Belgique Japon Tchécoslovaquie
Canada Norvège Thaïlande
Chili Nouvelle-Zélande Turquie
France Pays-Bas U.R.S.S.

Inde Royaume-Uni
Aucun Comité Membre ne se déclara opposé à l’approbation du Projet.
Le Projet de Recommandation IS0 fut alors soumis par correspondance au Conseil de l’IS0 qui
décida, en janvier 1969, de l’accepter comme RECOMMANDATION KO.
