This standard applies to open outlet, single point of use, electric instantaneous water heaters intended for household or similar use, for showering purposes without downstream mixing.
This standard only specifies tests for the assessment of energy efficiency.
This standard does not apply to electrical instantaneous water heaters covered by other parts of this series of standards.

EN 50193-2-2:2016 (CLC) specifies energy-efficiency test methods for open-outlet, single point of use electric instantaneous water heaters intended for showering (instantaneous showers) without downstream mixing. It is a focused part of the EN 50193 series and applies to household or similar use. This standard does not cover heaters addressed by other parts of the series and only defines tests for assessing energy efficiency - not safety, installation or performance beyond efficiency.

  • Tests performed at the appliance rated power (reference 230 V / 400 V as applicable).

  • Only the XS load pattern from Annex A (Table A.1) is used.

• Efficiency metrics:
  • Static efficiency methods from Part 1 apply except where modified.
  • Start-up losses (istartQ) are measured as the Wh consumed from element energisation until outlet water reaches the useable temperature Tm; recorded by a Wh meter.
  • Loss adjustment for semiconductor power switches is not applicable for these open-outlet electronic instantaneous units.
• Controls & smart features:
  • Smart control compliance is not applicable; daily energy demand is set with smart=0.
