Air conditioners, liquid chilling packages and heat pumps for space heating and cooling and process chillers, with electrically driven compressors - Part 1: Terms and definitions

This European Standard specifies the terms and definitions for the rating and performance of air conditioners, liquid chilling packages and heat pumps using either air, water or brine as heat transfer media, with electrically driven compressors when used for space heating and/or cooling.
It also specifies the terms and definitions for the rating and performance of process chillers.
This European Standard does not apply to heat pumps for domestic hot water, although certain definitions can be applied to these.
This European Standard applies to:
-   factory-made units that can be ducted,
-   factory-made liquid chilling packages with integral condensers or for use with remote condensers,
-   factory-made units of either fixed capacity or variable capacity by any means, and
-   air-to-air air conditioners which can also evaporate the condensate on the condenser side.
Packaged units, single split and multisplit systems are covered by this standard. Single duct and double duct units are covered by the standard.
In the case of units consisting of several parts, this European Standard applies only to those designed and supplied as a complete package, except for liquid chilling packages with remote condenser.
This European Standard is primarily intended for water and brine chilling packages but can be used for other liquid subject to agreement.
The units having their condenser cooled by air and by the evaporation of external additional water should have their performance in the cooling mode determined in accordance to EN 15218. For those which can also operate in the heating mode, the EN 14511 series applies for the determination of their performance in the heating mode.
NOTE 1   Part load testing of units is dealt with in EN 14825.
NOTE 2   All the symbols given in this text are used regardless of the language.

Dieses Dokument legt die Begriffe für die Einstufung und Leistung von Luftkonditionierern, Flüssigkeits-kühlsätzen und Wärmepumpen, die Luft, Wasser oder Sole als Wärmeträger nutzen, mit elektrisch angetriebenen Verdichtern für die Raumbeheizung und/oder -kühlung fest.
Es legt außerdem die Begriffe für die Einstufung und Leistung von Prozess-Kühlern fest.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für Wärmepumpen zum Erwärmen von Brauchwasser, obwohl bestimmte Definitionen auf diese angewendet werden können.
Dieses Dokument gilt für:
-   werksseitig hergestellte Geräte, die mit Kanalanschlüssen versehen sein können;
-   werksseitig hergestellte Flüssigkeitskühlsätze mit eingebauten Verflüssigern oder für den Betrieb mit getrennt angeordneten Verflüssigern und
-   Luft-Luft-Luftkonditionierer, die das Kondensat auch auf der Verflüssigerseite verdampfen können.
Kompaktgeräte, Einzelgeräte in Split-Bauweise und Multi-Split-Systeme fallen in den Anwendungsbereich dieses Dokument. Geräte mit Einkanal- und Zweikanal-Systemen werden ebenfalls in diesem Dokument behandelt.
Wenn die Geräte aus mehreren Teilen bestehen, gilt dieses Dokument mit der Ausnahme von Flüssigkeitskühlsätzen mit getrennt angeordnetem Verflüssiger nur für solche, die als vollständige Funktionseinheit konstruiert und geliefert werden.
Dieses Dokument gilt hauptsächlich für Wasser- und Solekühlsätze, kann jedoch nach Vereinbarung auf weitere Flüssigkeiten angewendet werden.
Die Leistung im Kühlbetrieb von Geräten, deren Verflüssiger durch Belüftung und durch Verdampfung von zusätzlichem, von außen zugeführtem Wasser gekühlt wird, wird nach EN 15218 ermittelt. Bei solchen Geräten, die auch im Heizbetrieb arbeiten können, gilt EN 14511 für die Ermittlung der Leistung im Heizbetrieb.

Le présent document spécifie les termes et définitions relatifs à la détermination des caractéristiques et des performances des climatiseurs, des groupes refroidisseurs de liquide et des pompes à chaleur utilisant l'air, l'eau ou l'eau glycolée comme fluide caloporteur, avec compresseur entraîné par moteur électrique, lorsqu'ils sont utilisés pour le chauffage et/ou le refroidissement des locaux.
Il spécifie également les termes et définitions relatifs à la détermination des caractéristiques et des performances des refroidisseurs industriels.
Le présent document ne s'applique pas spécifiquement aux pompes à chaleur utilisées pour l'eau chaude sanitaire, bien que certaines définitions puissent leur être applicables.
Le présent document s'applique :
-   aux appareils fabriqués en usine qui peuvent être raccordés ;

Le présent document couvre les systèmes monoblocs, à deux éléments séparés et multi-split. Le présent document couvre également les appareils à simple et à double raccordement.
Dans le cas d'appareils à éléments séparés, le présent document ne s'applique qu'aux appareils conçus et fournis comme un ensemble, sauf pour ce qui concerne les groupes refroidisseurs de liquide avec condenseur séparé.
Le présent document est principalement destiné aux groupes refroidisseurs d'eau et d'eau glycolée mais peut être utilisé, après accord, pour d'autres liquides.
La performance en mode refroidissement des appareils ayant leur condenseur refroidi par air et par évaporation d'eau extérieure supplémentaire est déterminée conformément à l’EN 15218. Pour ceux qui peuvent également fonctionner en mode chauffage, la série des EN 14511 s’applique pour la détermination de leur performance en mode chauffage.

pumps and air conditioning units”, the secretariat of which is held by UNE.
This document is currently submitted to the Enquiry.
This document will supersede EN 14511-1:2018.
This document has been prepared in the frame of:

— the Commission Regulation (EU) No 206/2012 implementing Directive 2009/125/EC with regard to

ecodesign requirements for air conditioners;

— the Commission Regulation (EU) n° 626/2011 supplementing Directive 2010/30/EU with regard to

energy labelling for air conditioners;

— the Commission Regulation (EU) No 813/2013 implementing Directive 2009/125/EC with regard to

ecodesign requirements for air-to-water and water-to-water heat pump space heaters;

— the Commission Regulation (EU) n° 811/2013 supplementing Directive 2010/30/EU with regard to

1 Scope

This document specifies the terms and definitions for the rating and performance of air conditioners,

electric compressor, including air conditioners that provide additional functionalities such as

dehumidification, air purification, ventilation or supplemental air heating by means of electric resistance

heating, as well as appliances that may use water (either condensate water that is formed onthe

evaporator side or externally added water) for evaporation on the condenser, provided that the device is

also able to function without the use of additional water, using air only
