Awnings for leisure accommodation vehicles - Requirements and test methods (ISO 8936:2007)
This International Standard specifies requirements and test methods for awnings for leisure accommodation vehicles. It applies to the different types of awnings described in Clause 4. This International Standard does not apply to sun awnings as defined in 3.4. Requirements concerning flame retardant finishing of the fabric could not be included in this International Standard because of known disadvantages of that finishing in other respects. Manufacturers who want to inform the consumer about that characteristic may mark the awning in accordance with ISO 10966:2005, 4.14.

Diese Internationale Norm legt Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren für Vorzelte für bewohnbare Freizeitfahrzeuge fest. Sie gilt für die im Abschnitt 4 dieser Internationalen Norm aufgeführten Vorzelttypen.
Diese Internationale Norm gilt nicht für Sonnendächer, wie in 3.4 definiert.
Anforderungen bezüglich einer flammhemmenden Endbearbeitung des Gewebes konnten auf Grund der bekannten Nachteile, die diese Bearbeitung in anderer Hinsicht aufweist, nicht in die Norm aufgenommen werden. Hersteller, die den Verbraucher auf diesen Sachverhalt hinweisen wollen, können das Vorzelt nach ISO 10966:2005, 4.14, kennzeichnen.

The text of ISO 8936:2007 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 83 “Sports and recreational
equipment” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO
8936:2009 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 136 “Sports, playground and other recreational facilities and
equipment” the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by August 2009, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
the latest by August 2009.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.

adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an

1 Scope
This International Standard specifies requirements and test methods for awnings for leisure accommodation
vehicles. It applies to the different types of awnings described in Clause 4.
This International Standard does not apply to sun awnings as defined in 3.4.
Requirements concerning flame retardant finishing of the fabric could not be included in this International

closeable tent used to extend the living area of a leisure accommodation vehicle, which may be free-standing
or attached to the leisure accommodation vehicle

leisure accommodation vehicle
unit of living accommodation for temporary or seasonal occupation that may meet requirements for
construction and use of road vehicles
