    • Burner and ignition source shall comply with IEC 60332-1-1. The burner is set so the tip of the blue cone impinges on the specimen at (475 ± 5) mm from the lower edge of the upper support and at an angle of (45 ± 2)° to vertical.
    • Flame application time is selected from the standard’s table based on the specimen overall diameter; at the end of the specified time the burner is removed and extinguished.
  • Stability: If the specimen moves significantly during test, a load (~5 N/mm of conductor area) may be attached to maintain straightness; special rules apply for non-circular cables.
