Earth-moving machinery - Safety - Part 11: Requirements for earth and landfill compactors
This part of EN 474 deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to earth and landfill compactors as defined in EN ISO 6165:2006, when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see Clause 4).
Other compactors such as roller compactors, rammer compactors and vibratory plates, which are dealt with in EN 500-1:2006 and EN 500-4:2006 are not covered in EN 474.
The requirements of this part are complementary to the common requirements formulated in EN 474-1:2006.
This part does not repeat the requirements from EN 474-1:2006, but adds or replaces the requirements for application for earth and landfill compactors.
This part specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards, hazardous situations and events during commissioning, operation and maintenance of earth and landfill compactors. This part does not deal with the specific hazards related to derivative use.
This European Standard is not applicable to earth and landfill compactors manufactured before the date of publication of this European Standard by CEN.

Dieser Teil der EN 474 behandelt alle signifikanten Gefährdungen, Gefährdungssituationen und Gefährdungsereignisse,
die auf Erd- und Müllverdichter, wie in EN ISO 6165:2006 definiert, zutreffen, wenn sie
bestimmungsgemäß verwendet werden. Die nach vernünftigem Ermessen für den Hersteller vorhersehbare
Nutzung der Maschine außerhalb der bestimmungsgemäßen Verwendung ist ebenfalls berücksichtigt (siehe
Abschnitt 4).
Andere Verdichter wie Walzen, Explosionsstampfer und Vibrationsplatten, die in EN 500-1:2006 und
EN 500-4:2006 behandelt werden, sind in der EN 474 nicht beinhaltet.
Die Anforderungen gelten ergänzend zu den allgemeinen Anforderungen der EN 474-1:2006.
Dieser Teil wiederholt nicht die Anforderungen der EN 474-1:2006, aber ergänzt oder ersetzt diese für den
Einsatz von Erd- und Müllverdichtern.
Dieser Teil beschreibt die geeigneten technischen Maßnahmen, die erforderlich sind, die Risiken, die
aufgrund signifikanter Gefährdungen, Gefährdungssituationen und Gefährdungsereignisse, die während der
Inbetriebnahme, des Betriebs, der Instandhaltung von Erd- und Müllverdichtern eintreten können, zu
beseitigen oder zu mindern. Dieser Teil der Norm behandelt nicht die speziellen Gefährdungen, die durch
artverwandten Gebrauch hervorgerufen wird.
Diese Europäische Norm ist nicht anzuwenden für Erd- und Müllverdichter, die vor der Veröffentlichung dieser
Europäischen Norm durch CEN hergestellt wurden.

La présente partie de l’EN 474 traite de tous les phénomènes, situations et événements dangereux significatifs
relatifs aux compacteurs de remblais et de déchets tels que définis dans l’EN ISO 6165:2006, lorsqu’ils sont utilisés
comme prévu ou dans des conditions de mauvais usage que le fabricant peut raisonnablement prévoir (voir Article 4).
D’autres compacteurs tels que les compacteurs à rouleaux, les pilonneuses et les plaques vibrantes, qui sont traités
dans les EN 500-1:2006 et EN 500-4:2006, ne sont pas couverts par l’EN 474.
Les prescriptions figurant dans la présente partie sont complémentaires des prescriptions communes présentées
dans l’EN 474-1:2006!+A1:2009".
La présente partie ne répète pas les prescriptions de l’EN 474-1:2006!+A1:2009" mais en ajoute ou en remplace
certaines pour les compacteurs de remblais et de déchets.
La présente partie prescrit les mesures techniques appropriées pour éliminer ou réduire les risques dus aux
phénomènes, situations et événements dangereux survenant lors de la mise en service, du fonctionnement et de la
maintenance des compacteurs de remblais et de déchets. La présente partie ne traite pas des phénomènes
dangereux spécifiques relatifs à l’utilisation dérivée.
Le présent document ne s’applique pas aux compacteurs de remblais et de déchets fabriqués avant sa publication
par le CEN.

Introduction
This part of EN 474 is a type C standard as stated in EN ISO 12100-1:2003.
The machinery concerned and the extent to which hazards, hazardous situations and events are covered are
indicated in the scope of this European Standard.
When provisions of this type C standard are different from those which are stated in type A or B standards, the
provisions of this type C standard take precedence over the provisions of the other standards, for machines
that have been designed and built according to the provisions of this type C standard.
