IEC 60050-112:2010 gives the general terminology concerning quantities and units, the terminology of SI, terms used in names and definitions of quantities, and some basic concepts in metrology. It cancels and replaces Sections 111-11 and 111-12 of International Standard IEC 60050-111:1996.
It has the status of a horizontal standard in accordance with IEC Guide 108.

This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2008. This edition constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:

This standard is based on classical electromagnetism, i.e. mainly Maxwell’s equations. No reference is made to quantum field theories.
IEC 80000-6:2022 cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2008. This edition constitutes a technical revision.

1) With the new definitions in SI, some previously exact values for quantities now must be determined experimentally while other quantities are given as exact values;

This document defines terms related to the concepts and quantities characterizing some classes of aircraft motion and their fundamental dynamic characteristics. The aircraft is assumed to be rigid, of constant mass and of constant inertia. It is not equipped with systems modifying its natural dynamic behaviour. However, most of the definitions can be applied to the case of a flexible aircraft, of variable mass and of variable inertia. The general concepts defined in this document are applicable to the atmospheric flight phase.
