This document specifies the characteristics of the axles for all track gauges.
This document applies to heavy railway vehicles but may also apply to other vehicles such as light railway vehicles, trams or undergrounds.
It defines the characteristics of axles manufactured by forging or rolling, in vacuum-degassed steel, grade EA1N1, EA1T1 and EA4T1. For hollow axles, this document only applies to those obtained by machining the hole in a solid forged or rolled axle.
The requirements defined in this standard apply to cylindrical wheel seats. Most of the requirements also apply to wheelsets with conical wheel seats. Specific requirements for conical wheel seats (e.g. geometric dimensions) are defined in the technical specification.
Some characteristics are given according to category 1 or category 2.
This document applies to axles whose design complies with the rules defined in EN 13103-1.
This document also allows variations in material characteristics in relation to alternative manufacturing processes (e.g. cold forging, shot peening, thermal spraying, steel cleanliness, reduction ratio, improvement of material properties through fusion or heat treatment processes, etc.)..

Das vorliegende Dokument legt die Eigenschaften von Radsatzwellen für alle Spurweiten fest.
Dieses Dokument ist für Vollbahnfahrzeuge anzuwenden, kann jedoch auch für andere Anwendungen wie etwa leichte Stadtbahnfahrzeuge, Straßenbahnen und U-Bahnen angewendet werden.
Es legt die Eigenschaften von durch Schmiedeverfahren oder Walzen hergestellten Radsatzwellen aus vakuumentgastem Stahl der Sorte EA1N , EA1T1 und EA4T1 fest. Für längsgebohrte Radsatzwellen gilt diese Norm nur, wenn diese durch mechanische Bearbeitung der Bohrung in einer geschmiedeten oder gewalzten ganzen Radsatzwelle hergestellt werden.
Die in der vorliegenden Norm festgelegten Anforderungen sind für zylindrische Radsitze anzuwenden. Die meisten Anforderungen gelten auch für kegelförmige Radsitze von Radsatzwellen. Die besonderen Anforderungen an kegelförmige Radsitze (z. B. geometrische Abmessungen der Radsitze usw.) sind in der technischen Spezifikation festgelegt.
Einige Eigenschaften werden nach Kategorie 1 oder Kategorie 2 festgelegt.
Dieses Dokument gilt für Radsatzwellen, deren Konstruktion den in EN 13103 1 festgelegten Regeln entspricht.
Dieses Dokument erlaubt auch Abweichungen bei den Eigenschaften des Werkstoffs in Bezug auf alternative Fertigungsverfahren (z. B. Festwalzen, Kugelstrahlen, thermisches Spritzen, Stahlreinheit, Schmiedeverformungsgrad, Verbesserung der Werkstoffeigenschaften durch das Schmelzverfahren und den Wärmebehandlungsprozess usw.).

Le présent document spécifie les caractéristiques des essieux-axes pour tous les écartements de voie.
Le présent document peut aussi s’appliquer aux applications de rail léger et aux tramways.
Il définit les caractéristiques des essieux-axes fabriqués par forgeage ou par laminage, en acier dégazé sous vide, de nuance EA1N, EA1T1 et EA4T1. Pour les essieux-axes creux le présent document s'applique seulement à ceux qui sont obtenus par usinage du trou dans un essieu-axe plein forgé ou laminé.
Deux catégories d'essieux axes sont distinguées, la catégorie 1 et la catégorie 2. Généralement, la catégorie 1 est utilisée pour des vitesses de circulation supérieures à 200 km/h.
Le présent document s'applique aux essieux-axes dont la conception est conforme aux règles définies dans l’EN 13103 et l’EN 13104.
Le présent document permet également des variations des caractéristiques du matériau en relation avec des procédés de fabrication alternatifs (par exemple, forgeage à froid, grenaillage de précontrainte, projection thermique, propreté de l’acier, rapport de réduction, amélioration des propriétés du matériel par des procédés de fusion ou de traitement thermique, etc.).
