This European Standard specifies all the information necessary to facilitate the exchange of data and control information over the power line medium.
This European Standard establishes a minimal set of rules for compliance. It does not rule out extended services to be provided, given that the rules are adhered to within the system. It is the intention of the standard to permit extended services (defined by users) to coexist.
Certain aspects of the standard are defined in other documents. These documents are referenced where relevant. In the case where a referenced standard conflicts with this European Standard, this European Standard will prevail.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie toute l'information nécessaire pour faciliter l'échange de données et l'information de contrôle du protocole sur le médium réseau de puissance.
La présente Norme européenne établit un ensemble minimum de règles pour la conformité. Elle n'exclut pas les services supplémentaires à fournir, pour autant que ces règles soient associées au domaine du système. Il est prévu que cette norme permette aux extensions de services (définies par l'utilisateur) de coexister.
Certains aspects de la norme sont définis dans d'autres documents. Ces documents sont référencés autant que de besoin. Dans le cas où une norme référencée entre en contradiction avec la présente Norme européenne, cette dernière prévaut.
