This document specifies four methods for the determination of the Vicat softening temperature (VST) of thermoplastic materials:
— Method A50 using a force of 10 N and a heating rate of 50 °C/h;
— Method B50 using a force of 50 N and a heating rate of 50 °C/h;
— Method A120 using a force of 10 N and a heating rate of 120 °C/h;
— Method B120 using a force of 50 N and a heating rate of 120 °C/h.
The methods specified are applicable only to thermoplastics, for which they give a measure of the temperature at which the thermoplastics start to soften rapidly.

1.1 Dieses Dokument legt vier Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Vicat-Erweichungstemperatur (VST) von Thermoplasten fest:
Verfahren A50 mit einer Kraft von 10 N und einer Heizrate von 50 °C/h;
Verfahren B50 mit einer Kraft von 50 N und einer Heizrate von 50 °C/h;
Verfahren A120 mit einer Kraft von 10 N und einer Heizrate von 120 °C/h;
Verfahren B120 mit einer Kraft von 50 N und einer Heizrate von 120 °C/h.
1.2 Die festgelegten Verfahren sind nur auf Thermoplaste anwendbar, für die sie eine Kennzahl der Temperatur liefern, bei der die Thermoplaste beginnen schnell zu erweichen.

Le présent document spécifie quatre méthodes de détermination de la température de ramollissement Vicat (VST) des matières thermoplastiques:
— méthode A50 utilisant une force de 10 N et une vitesse d’élévation de la température de 50 °C/h;
— méthode B50 utilisant une force de 50 N et une vitesse d’élévation de la température de 50 °C/h;
— méthode A120 utilisant une force de 10 N et une vitesse d’élévation de la température de 120 °C/h;
— méthode B120 utilisant une force de 50 N et une vitesse d’élévation de la température de 120 °C/h.
Les méthodes spécifiées sont uniquement applicables aux thermoplastiques. Elles permettent de mesurer la température à laquelle le ramollissement de ces matières devient rapide.

Ta dokument določa štiri metode za ugotavljanje temperature zmehčišča plastomerov po Vicatu (VST):
– metoda A50 z uporabo sile 10 N in hitrosti segrevanja 50 °C/h;
– metoda B50 z uporabo sile 50 N in hitrosti segrevanja 50 °C/h;
– metoda A120 z uporabo sile 10 N in hitrosti segrevanja 120 °C/h;
– metoda B120 z uporabo sile 50 N in hitrosti segrevanja 120 °C/h.
Opisane metode se uporabljajo za polimerne materiale, za katere podajajo temperaturno meritev, pri kateri se plastomeri začnejo hitro mehčati.

collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 249 “Plastics” the secretariat of which is held by NBN.
