This European Standard specifies requirements for the environmental preservation and their verification for design and construction of slurry tankers for broadcasting and band spreading of slurry in agriculture and horticulture. It specifies requirements for the transverse and longitudinal spreading characteristics such as acceptable working widths, steady flow and the stretch within the tolerance zone. These requirements are limited to tests with slurry as described in Annex A, table A.1.

Diese Europäische Norm enthält Prüfmethoden und Anforderungen für Bauart und Konstruktion von Flüssigmisttankwagen für die Breit- und Bandverteilung von Flüssigmist in Landwirtschaft und Gartenbau im Hinblick auf die Herabsetzung von Umweltschäden.
Die Norm legt Anforderungen an Ausbringcharakteristka bei Quer- und Längsverteilung fest, z.B. Arbeitsbreiten, charakteristische Ausbringmenge, charakteristischer Volumenstrom und Streckung innerhalb der Toleranzzone.
ANMERKUNG   Die Anwendung dieser Norm ist alleine nicht ausreichend, um alle Umweltaspekte zu behandeln. Andere Aspekte wie Ammoniak-Emission, Geruchsreduzierung usw. sollten ebenfalls berücksichtigt werden.
Diese Anforderungen sind begrenzt auf die Beurteilung von Flüssigmisttankwagen, die mit Flüssigmist nach Anhang A, Tabelle A.1 geprüft werden.
Aspekte des persönlichen Schutzes sind in dieser Norm nicht behandelt. Diese werden in EN 707 behandelt.

Matériel agricole - Epandeurs de lisier et dispositifs d'épandage - Protection de l'environnement - Prescriptions et méthodes d'essai pour la précision d'épandage

La présente norme européenne détermine les prescriptions relatives à la protection de l'environnement et les vérifications pour la conception et la construction des épandeurs de lisier destinés à l'épandage de lisier en nappe et en bandes, en agriculture et en horticulture. Elle détermine des prescriptions relatives aux caractéristiques d'épandage dans les directions transversale et longitudinale, telles que largeurs de travail acceptables, débit constant et étendue dans la zone de tolérance. Ces prescriptions sont limitées aux essais réalisés avec le lisier décrit en Annexe A, tableau A.1.

This document, to be used together with EN ISO 4254-1, specifies the safety requirements and their verification for the design and construction of semi-mounted, trailed and self-propelled slurry tankers, including their spreading or injecting devices, intended for spreading or injecting slurry which are operated by either pneumatic or mechanical power. In addition, it specifies the type of information on safe working practices to be provided by the manufacturer.
When requirements of this document are different from those which are stated in EN ISO 4254-1, the requirements of this document take precedence over the requirements of EN ISO 4254-1 for machines that have been designed and built according the provisions of this document.
This document, taken together with EN ISO 4254-1, deals with all the significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to slurry tankers, when they are used as intended and under the conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see Table A.1), excepting the hazards related to road safety (e.g. steering, braking).
Environmental aspects have not been considered in this document.
This document is not applicable to slurry tankers which are manufactured before the date of its publication as EN.

Agricultural machinery - Safety - Part 8: Solid fertilizer distributors (ISO 4254-8:2018)

ISO 4254-8:2018, intended to be used together with ISO 4254‑1, specifies the safety requirements and their verification for the design and construction of mounted, semi-mounted, trailed or self-propelled fertilizer distributors for solid fertilizer application in agriculture and to be used by one operator only, e.g. full width solid fertilizer distributors, solid fertilizer broadcasters, distributors with oscillating tube and line-distributors, as well as solid fertilizer distributors driven by an auxiliary engine. In addition, it specifies the type of information on safe working practices (including residual risks) to be provided by the manufacturer.
ISO 4254-8:2018 deals with all the significant hazards (as listed in Annex A), hazardous situations and events relevant to solid fertilizer distributors, when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseeable by the manufacturer (see Clause 4), excepting the hazards arising from:
-      inadequate lighting of working area;
-      inadequate visibility from drivers/operators position;
-      inadequate seating;
-      travelling functions (drive, braking etc.);
-      rolling over;
-      equipment for loading fertilizer into the machine;
-      an auxiliary engine;
-      moving parts for power transmission except for strength requirements for guards.
ISO 4254-8:2018 is neither applicable to maintenance or repairs carried out by professional service personnel nor to environmental hazards (except noise).
ISO 4254-8:2018 is not applicable to the following:
-      combined seed and fertilizer drills which create a soil trench and deposit fertilizer in said trench;
-      machines for distributing granulated pesticides;
-      pedestrian controlled distributors;
-      knapsack distributors.
ISO 4254-8:2018 is not applicable to solid fertilizer distributors which are manufactured before the date of its publication.
When requirements of this document are different from those which are stated in ISO 4254‑1, the requirements of this document take precedence over the requirements of ISO 4254‑1 for machines that have been designed and built according to the provisions of this document.

This European Standard, to be used together with EN ISO 4254-1, specifies the safety requirements and their verification for the design and construction of self-propelled, mounted, semi-mounted and trailed manure spreaders, provided with vertical or horizontal axes rotors rear spreader device or with vertical axes disc rear spreader device. In addition, it specifies the type of information on safe working practices to be provided by the manufacturer.
When requirements of this document are different from those which are stated in EN ISO 4254-1, the requirements of this document take precedence over the requirements of EN ISO 4254-1 for machines that have been designed and built according the provisions of this document.
This European Standard, taken together with EN ISO 4254-1, deals with all the significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to manure spreaders, when they are used as intended and under the conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see Table 1), excepting the hazards arising from:
-   vibrations of self-propelled machinery;
-   travelling function of self-propelled machinery;
-   overturning in regard to the protection of the operator at the driving station of a self-propelled machine;
-   hazards related to conveying devices other than those defined in 3.3.1 and 3.3.2, for example load push/push-off device.
NOTE 1   Regarding roll-over protection for self-propelled agricultural machinery, see EN ISO 16231-1.
NOTE 2   This European Standard is neither applicable to environmental hazards nor to road safety. Environmental aspects are dealt with in EN 13080.
This European Standard does not apply to manure spreaders with laterally mounted spreading device as defined in 3.6.
This European Standard is not applicable to manure spreaders which are manufactured before the date of publication of this document by CEN.

ISO 16119-1:2013 specifies general requirements for the design and performance of sprayers, as defined in ISO 5681, with regard to minimizing the potential risk of environmental contamination during use, including misuse foreseeable by the manufacturer. It also specifies the requirements for identification of the sprayer and certain of its components, and the minimum content of the instruction handbook.
It is intended to be used with each of the other parts of ISO 16119, which give requirements specific to particular types of sprayers (see Annex A). ISO 16119-1:2013 is applicable to all types of sprayers used in agriculture, horticulture, forestry and other areas, except knapsack sprayers. It does not cover safety aspects (see ISO 4254-6).
NOTE          Knapsack sprayers are covered by ISO 19932, which deals with safety as well as environmental aspects.

Two different methods are described in this European Standard to carry out the evaluation test: a transverse test and a rotating test. The rotating test is mainly adapted to centrifugal spreaders.
