EN 60705:2015/A2:2018 (adopted from IEC 60705:2010/A2:2018) is the CENELEC European amendment that defines methods for measuring the performance of household microwave ovens. It covers standalone microwave ovens, microwave ovens with grill, and combination microwave ovens (microwave combined with forced-air, conventional heating, hot steam or steam). The amendment clarifies scope, updates terminology (replacing “oven” with “appliance” in many places), and adds new test and measurement details. Implementation deadlines were set for national adoption (dop: 2019-04-04) and withdrawal of conflicting standards (dow: 2021-07-04).

This amendment A2 modifies the European Standard EN 60705:2015; it was approved by CENELEC on 2018-07-04. CENELEC members

Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on application to the CEN-CENELEC
Management Centre or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language made by translation under the

This document applies to microwave ovens for household use. It also applies to microwave
ovens with grills and combination microwave ovens.
This document defines the main performance characteristics of these appliances, which are of
interest to the user, and it specifies methods for measuring these characteristics.
NOTE 1 This document does not deal with
– microwave ovens that cannot accept a load having a diameter of ≥ 200 mm or a height of ≥ 120 mm;
– safety requirements (see IEC 60335-2-25 [1] and IEC 60335-2-90 [2]).
NOTE 2 This document does not apply to ovens incorporating conventional heating means only (see
IEC 60350) [3].
