Electrical installations for lighting and beaconing of aerodromes - Connecting devices - General requirements and tests

IEC 63067:2020 applies to plugs and receptacles for single or multiple pole connecting devices used for aeronautical ground lighting applications. Additional requirements and usage of connecting devices are given in different parts of IEC 61820 series. Connecting devices complying with this document are suitable for use in environmental class E11 according to IEC 61820-1.

L'IEC 63067:2020 s'applique aux fiches et embases pour dispositifs de connexion unipolaires ou multipolaires utilisés dans le cadre d'applications de balisage aéronautique au sol. Les exigences complémentaires et l'utilisation des dispositifs de connexion sont définies dans différentes parties de la série IEC 61820. Les dispositifs de connexion conformes au présent document sont adaptés à une utilisation dans des conditions d'environnement de classe E11, conformément à l'IEC 61820-1.

installations for lighting and beaconing of aerodromes" was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel
vote and approved by CENELEC as EN IEC 63067:2020.
The following dates are fixed:
• latest date by which the document has to be implemented at national (dop) 2021-04-29
level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement
• latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the (dow) 2023-07-29
document have to be withdrawn

This document also covers the special operational features of aeronautical ground lighting and addresses the level of training and the requirements for maintenance procedures detailed in IEC 61821 and other national or regional regulation. The requirements and tests are intended to set a specification framework for system designers, system installers, users, and maintenance personnel to ensure a safe and economic use of electrical systems in installations for the beaconing of aerodromes. This document complements existing IEC aeronautical ground lighting (AGL) standards and can be used as a design specification.

IEC 61821:2011 applies to the maintenance of AGL constant current series circuits. This International Standard: - covers constant current series circuits for AGL installed at aerodromes and heliports; - concentrates on providing the safety requirements for the maintenance of an AGL constant current series circuit. IEC 61822:2009 specifies the requirements for a Constant Current Regulator (CCR) having a nominal output of 6,6 A for use in an aeronautical ground lighting constant current series circuit. However, CCRs may be manufactured which have a different power rating (kVA) and current steps than those specified in this standard in order to be used on existing circuits. This standard should be applied where appropriate for these CCRs. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2002. It is a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) revision and update of terms and definitions; b) addition of new paragraphs, such as 'Nominal output current range and tolerances'; c) modification of some paragraphs, such as those related to 'Local control' and 'Remote control'; d) deletion of some paragraphs, in particular 'Power transformers' and 'Output current indicator'.

This standard specifies the characteristics of aeronautical ground lighting series trans-formers (AGLST) used in aeronautical ground lighting for 6,6 A series circuits, at a service voltage of up to 5 kV, supplied by constant current regulators up to 30 kVA in rating. AGL series transformers provide power to airport lighting luminaires or other loads (resistive) from their secondary circuits. The AGL series transformers provide continuity of the series circuit in the event of a loss of the load on the transformer, and electrical isolation between the primary circuit supplied by a constant current regulator, and the secondary circuit connected to the load under conditions defined in this standard.
