BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 61, Determination of Apparent Density
of Moulding Material that cannot be Poured from a Specified Funnel, was pre-
pared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 61, Plastics, the Secretariat of which
is held by the American Standards Association, Incorporated (ASA).
At its second meeting, held in Turin, in October 1952, the Technical Com-
mittee assigned the development of this question to its Working Group No. 5,
Physical Chemical Properties, under the leadership of the United Kingdom.
The draft formulated by the Working Group, was presented to the Technical

Committee at its third plenary meeting, held at Stockholm, in August

and then distributed to the members of the Technical Committee as a draft
proposal for an IS0 Recommendation.
After its reconsideration at the fourth meeting of ISO/TC 61, held in
Brighton, in October 1954, the draft proposal was adopted, subject to some
amendments, as a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
On 31 December 1955, the Draft IS0 Recommendation was circulated to
all the IS0 Member Bodies and, some amendments having been taken into
consideration, it was approved by the following 29 Member Bodies (out of a
total of 37):

The Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted, by correspondence,
to the IS0 Council, which decided, in April 1958, to accept it as :an IS0 RECOM-
MENDATION.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 61, Détermination de la masse volumique appa-
renfe des mafikres ir mouler non suscepiibles de s’&couler à travers un entonnoir
donné, a été élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 61, Mafibres plasfiques,
dont le Secrétariat est assuré par 1’American Standards Association, Incor-
porated (ASA).
Au cours de la deuxième réunion, tenue A Turin, en octobre 1952, le Comité
Technique confia l’étude de cette question A son Groupe de travail No 5, Pro-
priétés physico-chimiques, sous la présidence du Royaume-Uni.
La proposition élaborée par ce Groupe de travail fut présentée au Comite
Technique lors de sa troisième réunion plénière, tenue A Stockholm, en aoGt
1953; elle fut ensuite soumise par correspondance aux membres du Comitt!
Technique, a titre d’avant-projet de Recommandation ISO.
Au cours de la quatrième réunion d’ISO/TC 61, tenue it Brighton, en octobre
1954, cet avant-projet fit l’objet d’un nouvel examen et fut adopté, sous reserve
de quelques amendements, comme Projet de Recommandation ISO.
En date du 31 décembre 1955, le Projet de Recommandation IS0 fut
distribué A tous les Comitb Membres de 1’ISO et, compte tenu de quelques
amendements, il fut approuve par les 29 Comités Membres suivants, sur un

l’approbation du Projet.
