BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 866, Centre drills for centre holes without protecting chamfers -
Type A, was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 29, Small tools, the Secretariat of which is
held by the Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).
Work on ths question by the Technical Committee began in 1960 and led, in 1965, to the
adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In March 1966, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 955) was circulated to all the IS0
Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of an editorial nature,
by the following Member Bodies :

Chile Korea, Rep. of Turkey
Czechoslovakia Netherlands U.A.R.

Three Member Bodies opposed the approval of the Draft :

The Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted by correspondence to the IS0 Council,
which decided, in November 1968, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDATION.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 866, Forets à centrer pour centres sans chanfrein de protection -
Type A, a été élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 29, Petit outillage, dont le Secrétariat est
assuré par l’Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question furent entrepris par le Comité Technique en 1960 et
aboutirent, en 1965, à l’adoption d’un Projet de Recommandation ISO.
En mars 1966, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (NO 955) fut soumis à l’enquête de tous
les Comités Membres de VISO. 11 fut approuvé, sous réserve de quelques modifications d’ordre
rédactionnel, par les Comités Membres suivants :

qui décida, en novembre 1968, de l’accepter comme RECOMMANDATION ISO.
