BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 1572, Tea - Preparation of ground sample of known dry matter content,
was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 34, Agricultural food products, the Secretariat of which is held by
the Magyar Szabvhyügyi Hivatal (MSZH).
Work on this question led to the adoption of Draft IS0 Recommendation No. 1572,which was circulated in
July 1968 to all the IS0 Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of an editorial
nature, by the following Member Bodies :

OF KNOWN DRY MATTER CONTENT
1. SCOPE
This IS0 Recommendation describes a method of preparing a ground sample of tea and of determining its dry
matter content, for use in analytical determinations which require the results to be expressed on a dry basis.
2. DEFINITION
By d~v marrer is meant the matter remaining when a ground sample of the product is heated to constant mass
under the conditions specified.
3. PRINCIPLE
Grinding of the sample, and determination of the dry matter content of the ground sample by heating a test
portion in an oven at 103 * 2 "C to constant mass.
4. APPARATUS
Usual laboratory apparatus not otherwise specified, and the following items :
4.1 Grinding mill
- made of material which does not absorb moisture;
-- easy to clean and having as little dead space as possible;
- adjusted so as to produce particles which will pass completely through a sieve of rture 500 pm*

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISOlR 1572, Thé - Préparation d’un échantillon pulvérisé de teneur en matière sèche
connue, a été élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 34, Produits agricoles alimentaires, dont le Secrétariat est
assuré par le Magyar Szabvfinyügyi Hivatal (MSZH).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question aboutirent à l’adoption du Projet de Recommandation IS0 No 1572 qui
fut soumis,en juillet 1968,à l’enquête de tous les Comités Membres de 1’ISO. I1 fut approuvé, sous réserve de quelques
modifications d’ordre rédactionnel, par les Comités Membres suivants :

1. OBJET
La présente Recommandation IS0 décrit une méthode de préparation et de détermination de la teneur en matière
sèche d’un échantillon pulvérisé de thé, en vue de déterminations analytiques pour lesquelles il est nécessaire
d’exprimer le résultat sur sec.
2. DEFINITION
On entend par matière sèche la matière restant lorsqu’un échantillon pulvérisé du produit est chauffé jusqu’a masse
constante dans les conditions décrites.
3. PRINCIPE
Broyage de l’échantillon et détermination de la teneur en matière sèche de l’échantillon pulvérisé par chauffage
d‘une prise d’essai a l’étuve à 103 * 2 “C jusqu’à masse constante.
4. APPAREILLAGE
Matériel courant de laboratoire, et notamment
4.1 Broyeur
- construit en matière n’absorbant pas l’humidité,
- facile à nettoyer et présentant un espace mort aussi faible que possible,
- réglé pour obtenir des particules susceptibles de passer complètement à travers un tamis
de 500 pm d’ouverture de maille*.
4.2 Recipient pour échantillon, étanche, propre, sec, en verre ou en une autre matière appropriée n’ayant
aucune action sur l’échantillon, et de contenanc
