This International Standard specifies a method for the preparation, marking and measuring of textile fabrics, garments and fabric assemblies for use in tests for assessing dimensional change after a specified treatment, e.g. washing, dry cleaning, soaking in water and steaming, following the procedures in ISO 3005, ISO 7771, ISO 6330 or ISO 3175. This standard is applicable to woven and knitted fabrics and made-up textile articles. The procedures are not applicable to certain upholstery coverings. The principal modifications with respect to the fourth edition arte the following. a) The method has been extended to cover knit fabrics. b) The calculation for percentage change has been corrected in accordance with the Technical Corrigendums.

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren fest zur Vorbereitung, Markierung und Messung von textilen
Flächengebilden, Kleidungsstücken und Kombinationen von Flächengebilden zur Verwendung bei Prüfungen
zur Bewertung der Maßänderung nach einer festgelegten Behandlung, z. B. Waschen, Chemisch-Reinigen,
Durchnässen und Dämpfen, unter Anwendung der Verfahren in ISO 3005, ISO 7771, ISO 6330 oder
ISO 3175. Diese Norm ist anwendbar auf gewebte und gestrickte Flächengebilde und abgepasste textile
Fertigerzeugnisse. Die Verfahren sind nicht anwendbar auf bestimmte Polsterbezüge.

L'ISO 3759:2007 spécifie une méthode pour la préparation, le marquage et le mesurage d'étoffes textiles, de vêtements et d'assemblages d'étoffes à utiliser dans les essais destinés à évaluer la variation des dimensions à l'issue de traitements spécifiés, par exemple lors du lavage, du nettoyage à sec, du trempage dans l'eau et du vaporisage selon l'ISO 3005, l'ISO 7771, l'ISO 6330 ou l'ISO 3175. La présente norme est applicable aux étoffes tissées et tricotées, et aux articles confectionnés. Les modes opératoires ne sont pas applicables à certains recouvrements d'ameublement.

The text of ISO 3759:2007 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 38 "Textiles” of
the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO
3759:2008 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 248 "Textiles and textile products", the secretariat
of which is held by BSI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of
an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by August 2008, and conflicting national
standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by August 2008.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the
subject of patent rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any
or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 3759:1995.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International
Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards
adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.

ISO 3759 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 38, Textiles, Subcommittee SC 2, Cleansing, finishing
and water resistance tests.
This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition (ISO 3759:1994), which has been technically revised
to include Technical Corrigendum 1:1999 and Technical Corrigendum 2:2004.
The principal modifications with respect to the fourth edition arte the following.
a) The method has been extended to cover knit fabrics.
b) The calculation for percentage change has been corrected in accordance with the Technical Corrigendums.
