Amandma A2:2011 je dodatek k standardu SIST EN 60238:2005.
This International Standard applies to lampholders with Edison thread E14, E27 and E40, designed for connection to the supply of lamps and semi-luminaires* only.
It also applies to switched-lampholders for use in a.c. circuits only, where the working voltage does not exceed 250 V r.m.s.
This standard also applies to lampholders with Edison thread E5 designed for connection to the supply mains of series connected lamps, with a working voltage not exceeding 25 V, to be used indoors, and to lampholders with Edison thread E10 designed for connection to the supply mains of series connected lamps, with a working voltage not exceeding 60 V, to be used indoors or outdoors. It also applies to lampholders E10 for building-in, for the connection of single lamps to the supply. These lampholders are not intended for retail sale.
As far as it reasonably applies, this standard also covers lampholders other than lampholders with Edison thread designed for connection of series-connected lamps to the supply.
NOTE This type of lampholder is for example used in Christmas tree lighting chains.
As far as it reasonably applies, this standard also covers adapters.
This standard also covers lampholders which are, wholly or partly, integral with a luminaire or intended to be built into appliances. It covers the requirements for the lampholder only. For all other requirements, such as protection against electric shock in the area of the terminals or of the lamp cap, the requirements of the relevant appliance standard shall be observed and tested after building into the appropriate equipment, when that equipment is tested according to its own standard. Such lampholders as well as lampholders provided with a snap-on outer shell, for use by luminaire manufacturers only, are not for retail sale.
This standard applies to lampholders to be used indoors or outdoors in residential as well as in industrial lighting installations. It also applies to candle lampholders. In locations where special conditions prevail, as for street lighting, on board ships, in vehicles and in hazardous locations, e.g. where explosions are liable to occur, special constructions may be required.
NOTE 1 This standard does not apply to three-light lampholders E26d.
NOTE 2 This standard is based on the following data relative to lamps for general lighting service:
– caps E14 are used for lamps with a current not exceeding 2 A;
– caps E27 are used for lamps with a current not exceeding 4 A;
– caps E40 are used for lamps with a current not exceeding 16 A.
NOTE 3 If the nominal voltage of the supply does not exceed 130 V, the maximum current for caps E40 is 32 A (see 4.5 and 5.3).
NOTE 4 Where lampholders are used in luminaires, their maximum operating temperatures are specified in IEC 60598.

Amandma A2:2011 je dodatek k standardu SIST EN 60238:2005.
Ta mednarodni standard velja za okove za žarnice in sijalke z Edisonovim navojem E14, E27 in E40, načrtovanih samo za povezavo z napajanjem sijalk in polsijalk*.
Prav tako velja za stikalne okove za žarnice in sijalke za uporabo samo v omrežjih z izmeničnim tokom, kjer delovna napetost ni večja od 250 V r.m.s.
Ta standard prav tako velja za okove za žarnice in sijalke z Edisonovim navojem E5, načrtovanim za povezavo serije povezanih sijalk z omrežnim napajanjem z delovno napetostjo, ki ni večja od 25 V, za uporabo v zaprtih prostorih in za okove za žarnice in sijalke z Edisonovim navojem E10, načrtovanim za povezavo serije povezanih sijalk z omrežnim napajanjem z delovno napetostjo, ki ni večja od 60 V, za uporabo bodisi v zaprtih prostorih bodisi zunaj. Prav tako velja za okove za žarnice in sijalke E10 za vgradnjo in za povezavo posameznih sijalk na napajanje. Ti okovi za žarnice in sijalke niso namenjeni maloprodaji.
Kolikor je smiselno, ta standard prav tako zajema okove za žarnice in sijalke, različne od okov za žarnice in sijalke z Edisonovim navojem, načrtovane za povezavo v serijo povezanih sijalk na napajanje.
OPOMBA: Ta vrsta okov za žarnice in sijalke je na primer uporabljena v svetlobnih nizih za božična dreveca.
Kolikor je smiselno, ta standard prav tako zajema adapterje.
Ta standard prav tako zajema okove za žarnice in sijalke, ki so v celoti ali delno vgrajeni s sijalko ali namenjeni vgradnji v gospodinjske aparate. Zajema samo zahteve za okove za žarnice in sijalke. Za vse druge zahteve, kot so zaščita pred električnim šokom v območju terminalov ali vznoškov sijalk, se upoštevajo in preskušajo zahteve ustreznih standardov za aparate po vgradnji v primerno opremo, kadar se ta oprema preskuša v skladu z njenim standardom. Take okove za žarnice in sijalke ter okove za žarnice in sijalke, dobavljene z zaskočnim ogrodjem, uporabljajo proizvajalci sijal in niso v maloprodaji.
Ta standard velja za okove za žarnice in sijalke, ki bodo uporabljeni bodisi v zaprtih prostorih bodisi zunaj v stanovanjskih in industrijskih inštalacijah za razsvetljavo. Prav tako velja za svečne okove za žarnice in sijalke. Na mestih, kjer prevladajo posebni pogoji, na primer v ulični razsvetljavi, na krovu ladij, v vozilih in na nevarnih mestih, kjer obstaja na primer možnost eksplozije, so lahko potrebne posebne konstrukcije.
OPOMBA 1: Ta standard ne velja za okove za žarnice in sijalke E26d s tremi sijalkami.
OPOMBA 2: Ta standard temelji na naslednjih podatkih glede na sijalke za splošne storitve razsvetljave:
- vznožki E14 so uporabljeni za sijalke s tokom, ki je manjši kot 2 A;
- vznožki E27 so uporabljeni za sijalke s tokom, ki je manjši kot 4 A;
- vznožki E40 so uporabljeni za sijalke s tokom, ki je manjši kot 16 A;
OPOMBA 3: Če nominalna napetost napajanja ni večja kot 130 V, je maksimalni tok za vznoške E40 32 A (glej točki 4.5 in 5.3).
OPOMBA 4: Kjer so okovi za žarnice in sijalke uporabljeni v svetilih, so njihove maksimalne temperature delovanja določene v IEC 60598.

This amendment A2 modifies the European Standard EN 60238:2004; it was approved by CENELEC on
2011-03-30. CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which
stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on
application to the Central Secretariat or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language
made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the
Central Secretariat has the same status as the official versions.

Lamp caps and holders, of IEC TC 34, Lamps and related equipment, was submitted to the
IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved by CENELEC as amendment A2 to EN 60238:2004 on
2011-03-30.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN and CENELEC shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent
rights.

Add the following two new definitions:

lampholder for building-in so designed that on its own it fulfils the requirements for double or
reinforced insulated parts in class II applications

partly reinforced insulated lampholder
lampholder for building-in so designed that some parts of the lampholder require additional
means to fulfil the requirements with regard to double or reinforced insulation
NOTE In some cases, the dimensions might be achieved only after mounting into the luminaire.

6 Classification
Replace the existing Subclause 6.5 by the following:
6.5 According to protection against electric shock
− unenclosed lampholders;
− enclosed lampholders;
− independent lampholders;
− partly reinforced insulated lampholders;
− enclosed reinforced insulated lampholders.
NOTE Where a lampholder is used with a working voltage of 50 % or less of its maximum rating, it may be
regarded as equivalent to a reinforced insulated lampholder.
7 Marking
Replace, in Subclause 7.1, the fourth paragraph (“Lampholders complying with the…”),
Note 3 and the fifth paragraph, added by Amendment 1, by the following new text:
Enclosed reinforced insulated lampholders offer an adequate level of protection for use in
