This European Standard specifies the requirements and test methods for the safety and efficiency of non-domestic gas-fired air heaters not exceeding a net heat input of 300 kW with (an) atmospheric burner(s) and without a fan to assist the transportation of combustion air and/or flue gases, hereafter referred to as "appliances". This European Standard applies to Type B11, C11 and C31 appliances intended for use in other than single unit residential dwellings. Provision of the heated air may be by means of ducting or may be directly into the heated space. This standard does not apply to: ð appliances intended for use in a single unit residential dwelling; ð appliances of the condensing type; ð appliances for outdoor installation; ð dual purpose air conditioning appliances (heating and cooling); ð appliances where the air is heated by an intermediate fluid; ð appliances with forced draught burners; ð appliances fitted with a manual or automatic means of adjusting the combustion air supply or the combustion products evacuation (including flue dampers); ð portable or transportable forced convection appliances; ð appliances having multiple heating units with a single draught diverter; ð appliances fitted with more than one flue outlet. This European Standard is applicable to appliances which are intended to be type tested. NOTE: Requirements for appliances which are not type tested would need to be subject to further consideration.

This European standard applies to gas-fired central heating boilers, which are declared by the manufacturer to be "condensing boilers": - of types B (excluding appliances without a fan) and C, - using one or more gases corresponding to the three gas families, and - for which the nominal heat input is less than or equal to 70 kW. This European standard only covers type testing. This European standard completes or modifies the standards EN 297, prEN 483 and EN 625, hereafter called "boiler standards". It specifies supplementary requirements for condensing boilers.

This European Standard specifies the requirements and test methods for the construction, safety, classification and marking of non-domestic gas-fired overhead radiant tube heaters incorporated into a multi-burner system (referred to in the body of the text as the 'system') with each burner unit under the control of an automatic burner control system. This standard is applicable to Type B22 and Type B23 systems (see 4.3) intended for use in other than domestic dwellings, in which the supply of combustion air and/or the evacuation of the products of combustion is achieved by mechanical means. This standard is not applicable to: -systems designed for use in domestic dwellings; -outdoor systems; -systems in which the heat input of an individual burner unit exceeds 120 kW (based on the net calorific value of the appropriate reference test gas); -systems having a draught diverter incorporated between the exhaust fan and the flue duct; -systems having fully pre-mixed gas and air burners in which: -either the gas and all the combustion air are brought together just before the level of the combustion zone; -or the pre-mixing of the gas and all combustion air is carried out in a part of the burner upstream of the combustion zone. This European Standard is applicable to systems which are intended to be type tested. Requirements for systems which are not intended to be type tested would need to be subject to further consideration. Requirements concerning the rational use of energy have not been included in this European Standard.
