IEC 60974-4:2010 specifies test procedures for periodic inspection and, after repair, to ensure electrical safety. These test procedures are also applicable for maintenance. This standard is applicable to power sources for arc welding and allied processes designed in accordance with IEC 60974-1 or IEC 60974-6. Stand-alone ancillary equipment designed in accordance with other part of IEC 60974 may be tested in accordance with relevant requirement of this part of IEC 60974. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2006. It constitutes a technical revision. The main significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition are the following:
- title is amended;
- scope is extended to equipment designed in accordance with IEC 60974-6;
- complementary instructions from the manufacturer shall be followed;
- qualification of test personnel is clarified (see 4.1);
- plasma cutting power sources are excluded from no-load voltage test (see 5.6);
- voltage reducing device functional test is simplified (see 6.3);
- supply voltage is recorded in test report (see 7.1).

IEC 60974-11:2010 is applicable to electrode holders for manual metal arc welding with electrodes up to 10 mm in diameter. It is not applicable to electrode holders for underwater welding. This part of IEC 60974 specifies safety and performance requirements of electrode holders. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2004. This edition constitutes a technical revision. The significant changes with respect to the previous edition are the following:
- change of the environmental condition in accordance with IEC 60974-1 (see Clause 4);
- change of electrical measuring instruments accuracy to Class 1 (see 5.1);
- correction of sphere diameter to 12,5 mm (see 8.1);
- alternative dielectric strength test (see 8.3).

IEC 60974-9:2010 is applicable to the installation and use of equipment for arc welding and allied processes designed in accordance with safety requirements of IEC 60974-1, IEC 60974-6 or equivalent. This part of IEC 60974 is applicable for the guidance of instructors, operators, welders, managers, and supervisors in the safe installation and use of equipment for arc welding and allied processes and the safe performance of welding and cutting operations. It cancels and replaces IEC/TS 62081, published in 1999. This first edition constitutes a technical revision. The following major differences with respect to IEC/TS 62081:1999 are to be noted:
- 4.3.3 Welding cables: Now dimensions are recommended;
- 5 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC): this is completely new;
- 6 Electromagnetic fields (EMF): this is completely new;
- 7.3 Inspection and maintenance of the welding installation: There is now a differentiation between periodical and routine inspection.
