This document specifies test procedures and a method of presenting the results concerning the parameters which define the main characteristics to be included in the literature from suppliers of regulators and filter-regulators conforming to ISO 6953-1. The purpose of this document is to: — facilitate the comparison of pressure regulators and filter-regulators by standardizing test methods and presentation of test data; — assist in the proper application of pressure regulators and filter-regulators in compressed air systems. The tests specified are intended to allow comparison among the different types of regulators and filter-regulators; they are not production tests to be carried out on each pressure regulator or filter-regulator manufactured. ISO 6953-3 can be used as an alternative dynamic test method for flow-rate characteristics using an isothermal tank instead of a flow meter. However, this method measures only the decreasing flow rate part of the hysteresis curve of forward flow and relief flow characteristics. NOTE The tests related to electro-pneumatic pressure control valves are specified in ISO 10094−2.

This document specifies which characteristics of compressed air pressure regulators are required to be included in the literature from the supplier. It also applies to filter-regulators. This document applies to: — manually controlled direct operated types (with relieving mechanisms such as a relieving pressure regulator, or without relieving mechanism), — manually controlled internal pilot operating types (e.g. nozzle flapper), and — pressure-pilot operated types. In addition, it specifies the product marking requirements for pressure regulators and filter-regulators. This document is applicable to compressed air pressure regulators with a rated inlet pressure of up to 2 500 kPa (25 bar) and an outlet adjustment pressure of up to 1 600 kPa (16 bar) and to filter-regulators with rated inlet and outlet pressures of up to 1 600 kPa (16 bar), in which the major contaminants are removed by mechanical means. NOTE The main characteristics to be included in the supplier's literature related to electrically modulated pneumatic continuous pressure control valves are specified in ISO 10094-1.

ISO 6953-3:2012 specifies alternative test methods for testing pneumatic fluid power components that use compressible fluids, i.e. gases. This part of ISO 6953 is applicable only to the decreasing flow rate part of the hysteresis curve of forward flow and relief flow characteristics. This method can be applied when: the pressure regulation dynamics of a component under test is rapid enough to be negligible, compared to the response of pressure changes during charge and discharge tests; the pressure response does not show any overshoot or any oscillating behaviour. ISO 6953-3:2012 specifies requirements for the test installation, the test procedure and the presentation of results. Examples of test results are given, as well as various data processing methods, and visualization of data processing procedures. Illustrations of overshoot and undershoot on regulated pressure response and large variations on inlet pressure are also given. ISO 6953-3:2012 applies to the following components: compressed air pressure regulators and filter-regulators according to ISO 6953-1; electro-pneumatic pressure control valves according to ISO 10094; other components such as relief valves.

ISO 16874:2004 provides identification coding for manifolds used in hydraulic systems and for component installation features (for example, mounting surfaces or cavities) of such manifolds. It specifies identification codes to be marked on manifold blocks and correlated with product and service documentation such as circuit diagrams, bills of material and assembly drawings, for the purpose of facilitating assembly, installation, use and service of systems in which the manifolds are applied. The codes define a unique identifier traceable to associated documentation for each mounting surface or cavity. The installed component may be marked or tagged with the same identifier when such marking is necessary for clarity in assembly or service.

1.1 This International Standard includes rules for identifying and marking ports in pneumatic directional control
valves. These ports are the main flow connections, control connections and pilot supply connections.
1.2 This International Standard includes rules for identifying and marking electrical leads for solenoids. It is not
applicable to internal electrical connections across manifold sections, such as connections to bus systems.
1.3 This International Standard includes rules for identifying and marking control mechanisms of directional control
valves.
1.4 This International Standard includes rules for identifying and marking ports and/or flow path directions in filters,
regulators, lubricators, non-return (check) valves, flow control valves and other ancillary devices.
1.5 This International Standard does not include rules for identifying and marking ports on proportional pneumatic
valves, air logic valves, cylinders, air motors, semi-rotary actuators, air compressors, air dryers or other devices not
specifically described in this International Standard.
