This European Standard specifies a method for the determination of the dynamic viscosity of bituminous binders at a range of temperatures by means of a coaxial viscometer. The typical range of application is from 50°C to 250°C using a rotating spindle apparatus. The method can be used to measure the apparent viscosity of bitumen at application temperatures.

Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der dynamischen Viskosität von bitumenhaltigen Bindemitteln in einem bestimmten Temperaturbereich mit einem koaxialen Viskosimeter fest. Das Verfahren wird üblicherweise in einem Temperaturbereich von 50°C bis 250°C unter Anwendung eines Rotationsviskosimeters durchgeführt. Das Verfahren kann angewendet werden, um die scheinbare Viskosität von Bitumen im Bereich der Anwendungstemperaturen zu bestimmen.

La présente norme européenne prescrit une méthode de détermination de la viscosité dynamique des liants bitumineux dans une plage de températures au moyen d'un viscosimètre coaxial. La gamme d'applications type va de 50 °C à 250 °C en utilisant un appareillage à mobile tournant.
On peut utiliser cette méthode pour mesurer la viscosité apparente du bitume aux températures d'application.
NOTE Certains bitumes peuvent révéler un comportement non newtonien dans les conditions de la présente méthode. Étant donné que des valeurs de viscosités non newtoniennes ne résultent pas des propriétés du seul matériau mais reflètent le comportement du fluide et du système de mesure, il convient d'admettre que les mesures prises en utilisant la présente méthode peuvent ne pas toujours prédire sa performance dans les conditions d'usage. Il convient de faire des comparaisons entre des viscosités non newtoniennes uniquement pour des mesures faites dans des conditions identiques de contrainte de cisaillement et de taux de cisaillement.
