This document specifies a procedure for the calculation of the cetane index of middle-distillate fuels from petroleum-derived sources. The calculated value is termed the "cetane index by four-variable equation". Throughout the remaining text of this document, the term "cetane index" implies cetane index by four-variable equation.
This document is applicable to fuels containing non-petroleum derivatives from tar sand and oil shale. It is not applicable to pure hydrocarbons, nor to distillate fuels derived from coal. Cetane index calculations do not take into account the effects from additives used to enhance the Cetane number.
NOTE 1 This document was originally developed using a matrix of fuels, some of which contain non-petroleum derivatives from tar sands and oil shale.
NOTE 2 The cetane index is not an alternative way to express the cetane number; it is a supplementary tool, to be used with due regard for its limitations.
NOTE 3 The cetane index is used to estimate the cetane number of diesel fuel when a test engine is not available to determine this property directly, or when insufficient sample is available for an engine rating.

Within the range of cetane number (32,5 to 56,5), the expected error of the prediction via the cetane index equation will be less than ±2 cetane numbers for 65 % of the distillate fuels examined. Errors can be greater for fuels whose properties fall outside this range of application.
As a consequence of sample-specific biases observed, the expected error can be greater even when the fuel's properties fall inside the recommended range of application. Therefore, users can assess the required degree of prediction agreement to determine the fitness-for-use of the prediction.
NOTE 4 Sample specific biases were observed for distillate fuels containing FAME (fatty acid methyl ester).

Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren zur Berechnung des Cetanindex von Mitteldestillat-Kraftstoffen auf Mineralölbasis fest. Der berechnete Wert wird im Folgenden als "Cetanindex aus der 4 Parameter-Gleichung" bezeichnet. Im weiteren Text dieses Dokuments wird die Benennung "Cetanindex" als Abkürzung für "Cetanindex aus der 4 Parameter Gleichung" verwendet.
Dieses Dokument ist anwendbar auf Kraft  und Brennstoffe, die nicht-erdölstämmige Folgeprodukte der Verarbeitung von Teersanden und Ölschiefer enthalten. Es ist weder anwendbar auf reine Kohlenwasserstoffe noch auf Destillatkraftstoffe auf Kohlebasis. Die Berechnung des Cetanindex berücksichtigt nicht die Wirkung von Additiven, die zur Erhöhung der Cetanzahl verwendet werden.
ANMERKUNG 1   Dieses Dokument wurde ursprünglich unter Verwendung einer Matrix von Kraft  und Brennstoffen entwickelt, von denen einige nicht-erdölstämmige Komponenten enthielten, die aus Teersand und Ölschiefer gewonnen wurden.
ANMERKUNG 2   Der Cetanindex ist kein alternativer Weg, die Cetanzahl auszudrücken; er ist ein zusätzliches Hilfs-mittel, welches unter gebührender Berücksichtigung seiner Einschränkungen zu benutzen ist.
ANMERKUNG 3   Der Cetanindex wird zur Abschätzung der Cetanzahl von Dieselkraftstoff verwendet, wenn ein Prüfmotor zur direkten Bestimmung dieser Eigenschaft nicht verfügbar ist, oder wenn für eine motorische Prüfung keine aus¬reichende Probenmenge vorhanden ist.
Der für die Anwendung dieses Dokuments am besten geeignete Bereich der Kraftstoffeigenschaften wird wie folgt angegeben:

Innerhalb des Cetanzahlbereichs (32,5 bis 56,5) beträgt der erwartete Fehler für die Vorhersage durch die Cetanindex Gleichung bei 65 % der untersuchten Kraftstoffdestillate weniger als ±2 Cetanzahlen. Bei Kraftstoffen, deren Eigenschaften außerhalb dieses Bereichs liegen, können die Fehler größer sein.
Als eine Folge beobachteter probenspezifischer systematischer Abweichungen kann der erwartete Fehler möglicherweise auch dann größer sein, wenn die Eigenschaften des Kraftstoffs innerhalb des empfohlenen Bereichs liegen. Anwender können deshalb den für die Gebrauchstauglichkeit erforderlichen Übereinstimmungsgrad der Vorhersage abschätzen.
ANMERKUNG 4   Probenspezifische systematische Abweichungen wurden bei Fettsäuremethylester (FAME) haltigen Destillatkraftstoffen beobachtet.

Le présent document spécifie une méthode de calcul de l'indice de cétane des distillats moyens de différentes provenances pétrolières. La valeur obtenue est appelée indice de cétane calculé par équation à quatre variables. Tout au long du texte du présent document, le terme «indice de cétane» est employé pour désigner l'indice de cétane calculé par équation à quatre variables.
Le présent document est applicable aux combustibles contenant des produits non pétroliers dérivés des schistes bitumineux ou des sables bitumineux. Il n'est pas applicable aux hydrocarbures purs, ni aux distillats issus de la houille. Le calcul de l'indice de cétane ne prend pas en compte les effets des additifs destinés à améliorer l'indice de cétane.
NOTE 1 À l'origine, le présent document a été développé en utilisant une matrice de combustibles, dont certains contenaient des produits non pétroliers dérivés des schistes bitumineux et des sables bitumineux.
NOTE 2 L'indice de cétane calculé n'est pas une notion de remplacement de l'indice de cétane mesuré. Il s'agit d'un outil supplémentaire à utiliser en tenant compte de ses limites.
NOTE 3 L'indice de cétane calculé est utilisé pour estimer l'indice de cétane mesuré d'un gazole moteur quand il n'est pas possible d'effectuer un essai moteur, soit qu'il n'y ait pas de moteur disponible, soit que la quantité de l'échantillon disponible soit insuffisante.

À l'intérieur de l'intervalle (32,5 à 56,5) pour la valeur de l'indice de cétane mesuré, l'erreur prévisible sur l'indice de cétane calculé par l'équation est inférieure à ±2 unités d'indice de cétane pour 65 % des distillats examinés. Il peut se produire des erreurs plus grandes pour des produits qui ne sont pas compris dans ce domaine d'application.
En conséquence, même lorsque les propriétés du carburant sont comprises dans l'intervalle recommandé de cétane mesuré, des biais supérieurs à ±2 unités d'indice de cétane peuvent être observés. Les utilisateurs peuvent donc évaluer la précision nécessaire pour leur prévision.
NOTE 4 Des biais spécifiques aux échantillons ont été observés pour les combustibles distillés contenant des esters méthyliques d'acides gras (EMAG).

Naftni proizvodi - Izračun cetanskega indeksa srednjih destilatov po enačbi s štirimi spremenljivkami (ISO 4264:2018)

Ta dokument določa postopek za izračun cetanskega indeksa srednjih destilatov iz virov, pridobljenih iz nafte. Izračunana vrednost se imenuje »cetanski indeks po enačbi s štirimi spremenljivkami«. V nadaljevanju besedila tega dokumenta izraz »cetanski indeks« pomeni cetanski indeks po enačbi s štirimi spremenljivkami.
Ta dokument se uporablja za goriva z nenaftnimi derivati iz katranskega peska in naftnega
skrilavca. Ne uporablja se za čiste ogljikovodike ali za destilatna goriva, pridobljena iz premoga. Izračuni cetanskega indeksa ne upoštevajo učinkov aditivov za zvišanje cetanskega števila.
OPOMBA 1 Ta dokument je bil prvotno razvit z uporabo matrice goriv, od katerih nekatera vsebujejo nenaftne derivate iz katranskega peska in naftnega skrilavca.

Kot posledica opažene pristranskosti pri posameznih vzorcih so pričakovane napake lahko večje tudi v primeru, da so lastnosti goriva v priporočenem obsegu uporabe. Zato lahko uporabniki ocenijo zahtevano stopnjo dogovora o napovedi, da določijo primernost za uporabo napovedi.
OPOMBA 4 Pristranskost pri posameznih vzorcih je bila opažena pri destilatnih gorivih, ki vsebujejo FAME (metilne estre maščobnih kislin).

This document (EN ISO 4264:2018) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 28 "Petroleum

and related products, fuels and lubricants from natural or synthetic sources" in collaboration with

Technical Committee CEN/TC 19 “Gaseous and liquid fuels, lubricants and related products of

petroleum, synthetic and biological origin” the secretariat of which is held by NEN.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an

identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by January 2019, and conflicting national standards shall

be withdrawn at the latest by January 2019.
