Electrical apparatus for the detection of combustible gases in domestic premises - Part 1: Test methods and performance requirements
This European Standard specifies general requirements for the construction, testing and performance of electrically operated apparatus for the detection of combustible gases, designed for continuous operation in a fixed installation in domestic premises. The apparatus may be mains or battery powered. Additional requirements for apparatus to be used in recreational vehicles and similar premises are specified in EN 50194-2. NOTE 1 For caravan holiday homes EN 50194-1 applies. This European Standard specifies two types of apparatus to operate in the event of an escape of town gas, natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG): - Type A apparatus - to provide a visual and audible alarm and an executive action in the form of an output signal that may actuate directly or indirectly a shut-off device and/or other ancillary device; - Type B apparatus - to provide a visual and audible alarm only. This European Standard excludes apparatus for the detection of toxic hazards of gases such as carbon monoxide (see EN 50291-1 and EN 50291-2). Apparatus complying with this standard is not considered suitable for industrial or commercial installations for which EN 60079-29-1 apply. NOTE 2 Apparatus tested in accordance with EN 60079-29-1 will not necessarily comply with this European Standard.

Diese Europäische Norm legt allgemeine Anforderungen an die Konstruktion, die Prüfverfahren und das Be-triebsverhalten von elektrischen Geräten zur Detektion brennbarer Gase fest, die ortsfest installiert zum kon-tinuierlichen Betrieb in Wohnhäusern bestimmt sind. Die Geräte dürfen netz– oder batteriebetrieben sein. Zusätzliche Anforderungen für Geräte zum Einsatz in Freizeitfahrzeugen oder ähnlichen Umgebungen sind in EN 50194–2 festgelegt. ANMERKUNG 1 Für Mobilheime gilt die EN 50194-1. Diese Norm beschreibt zwei Typen von Geräten zur Meldung von Leckagen von Stadtgas, Erdgas oder Flüs-siggas (LPG): - Geräte des Typs A – zur optischen und akustischen Alarmierung und zur Ausführung einer Funktion in Form eines Ausgangssignales, das zur direkten oder indirekten Auslösung einer Abschaltvorrichtung und/oder einer anderen Hilfsvorrichtung verwendet werden kann. - Geräte des Typs B – nur zur optischen und akustischen Alarmierung. Diese Norm schließt Geräte zur Detektion toxischer Gefährdung durch Gase, wie Kohlenmonoxid, aus (siehe EN 50291-1 und EN 50291-2). Geräte, die diese Norm erfüllen, werden nicht als geeignet angesehen für industrielle oder kommerzielle Ein-richtungen, für die EN 60079-29-1 gilt. ANMERKUNG 2 Nach EN 60079-29-1 geprüfte Geräte erfüllen nicht notwendigerweise diese Norm.
Matériels électriques pour la détection des gaz combustibles dans les locaux à usage domestique - Partie 1: Méthodes d'essai et exigences d'aptitude à la fonction
La présente Norme Européenne spécifie les exigences générales pour la construction, les essais et l’aptitude à la fonction des matériels électriques destinés à la détection des gaz combustibles conçus pour un fonctionnement continu dans une installation fixe, dans des locaux à usage domestique. Le matériel peut être alimenté par batterie ou bien par le secteur. Des exigences complémentaires pour les matériels utilisés dans les véhicules de loisir ou dans des locaux similaires sont spécifiées dans la EN 50194-2. NOTE 1 Pour les caravanes et camping-cars, la EN 50194-1 est applicable. La présente Norme Européenne spécifie deux types de matériels destinés à fonctionner dans l’éventualité d’une fuite de gaz de ville, de gaz naturel ou de gaz de pétrole liquéfié (GPL): - matériel de Type A – il fournit une alarme visuelle et sonore ainsi qu’une action d’exécution sous forme d’un signal de sortie qui peut actionner directement ou indirectement un dispositif d’arrêt et/ou d’autres dispositifs auxiliaires, - matériel de Type B – il fournit uniquement une alarme visuelle ou sonore. La présente Norme Européenne n’est pas applicable aux matériels de détection des dangers de gaz toxiques tels que le monoxyde de carbone (voir les EN 50291-1 et EN 50291-2). Le matériel conforme à la présente norme n’est pas considéré adapté aux installations industrielles ou commerciales pour lesquelles la EN 60079-29-1 est applicable. NOTE 2 Les matériels soumis à l’essai selon la EN 60079-29-1 ne sont pas nécessairement conformes à la présente Norme Européenne.
