IEC 60728-3:2010(E) lays down the measuring methods, performance requirements and data publication requirements for active wideband equipment of cable networks for television signals, sound signals and interactive services. It covers the frequency range 5 MHz to 3 000 MHz; applies to all broadband amplifiers used in cable networks; lays down the basic methods of measurement of the operational characteristics of the active equipment in order to assess the performance of this equipment; identifies the performance specifications to be published by the manufacturers; states the minimum performance requirements of certain parameters. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2005 of which it constitutes a technical revision. It includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: extension of upper frequency range limit for cable network equipment from 862 MHz to 1 000 MHz; method of measurement and requirements for immunity to surge voltages; extension of scope to equipment using symmetrical ports; additional normative references; additional terms and definitions and abbreviations.

La CEI 60728-3:2010 présente les méthodes de mesure, les exigences de performance et les exigences de publication des données caractéristiques des matériels actifs à large bande des réseaux de distribution par câbles pour signaux de télévision, signaux de radiodiffusion sonore et services interactifs. Cette quatrième édition annule et remplace la troisième édition parue en 2005, dont elle constitue une révision technique. Elle contient les modifications techniques significatives suivantes par rapport à l'édition précédente: - extension de la limite supérieure de la gamme de fréquences pour les matériels de réseaux de distribution par câbles de 862 MHz à 1 000 MHz; - méthode de mesure et exigences pour l'immunité aux tensions de choc; - extension du domaine d'application aux matériels à accès symétriques; - références normatives supplémentaires; - termes, définitions et abréviations supplémentaires. La version française de cette norme n'a pas été soumise au vote.

Ta del IEC 60728 predpisuje metode merjenja, zahteve za zmogljivost in zahteve za objave podatkov za aktivno širokopasovno opremo koaksialnih kabelskih omrežij za televizijske signale, zvočne signale in interaktivne storitve. Ta standard: – velja za vse širokopasovne ojačevalce, ki se uporabljajo v koaksialnih kabelskih omrežjih; – zajema frekvenčni razpon od 5 MHz do 3000 MHz; – velja za enosmerno in dvosmerno opremo; – podaja osnovne metode merjenja značilnosti delovanja aktivne opreme za ocenitev zmogljivosti te opreme; – določa specifikacije za zmogljivost, ki jih morajo objaviti proizvajalci; – navaja minimalne zahteve za delovanje nekaterih parametrov. Ojačevalniki so razdeljeni na naslednji dve ravni kakovosti: razred 1: ojačevalniki, običajno namenjeni postavitvi v kaskadi; razred 2: ojačevalniki, običajno uporabljeni v stanovanjskih blokih ali posameznem stanovanju, ki napajajo nekaj izhodov. Praktične izkušnje so pokazale, da ti tipi izpolnjujejo večino tehničnih zahtev, potrebnih za zagotavljanje minimalne kakovosti signala naročnikom. Ta klasifikacija ne predstavlja zahteve, temveč je namenjena uporabnikom in proizvajalcem kot informacija o kriterijih minimalne kakovosti materiala, potrebnega za postavitev omrežij različnih velikosti. Operater sistema mora izbrati ustrezen material, da zadosti minimalni kakovosti signala pri naročnikovem izhodu in da optimizira strošek/zmogljivost ob upoštevanju velikosti omrežja in lokalnih okoliščin. Vse zahteve in objavljene podatke je treba razumeti kot zagotovljene vrednosti v določenem frekvenčnem razponu in v enakih okoliščinah.

Cable networks for television signals, sound signals and interactive services, of IEC TC 100, Audio, video
and multimedia systems and equipment, was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was
approved by CENELEC as EN 60728-3 on 2011-01-13.
This European Standard supersedes EN 60728-3:2006.
