Lead-acid starter batteries - Part 5: Properties of battery housings and handles

This European Standard covers multicell battery housings produced of polypropylene as the preferred material for lead-acid batteries as an energy storage device for cranking combustion engines, for lighting and for additional equipment used in road vehicles. These batteries are all referred to as starter batteries. This European Standard describes battery housings for batteries usable within the engine compartment and for installation under conditions where they are protected from light. Batteries of this European Standard do not provide additional features for special protection from light. Therefore, batteries with limited protection from light are to be treated as a special case. The purpose of this European Standard is to describe the properties of battery housings for its use in combustion vehicles by means of uniform examination procedures and by defining the requirements for the raw material and the complete part. The test procedure and requirements for the complete housing are described in the main part. Test procedures for the raw material are determined in Annex A. Annex B recommends possible test procedures for the material properties taken out of the complete housings, without being normative.

La présente Norme européenne concerne les logements de batterie multiples en polypropylène en tant que matériau privilégié pour les batteries au plomb faisant office de dispositif de stockage d’énergie pour le démarrage des moteurs à combustion, l’allumage et les équipements supplémentaires utilisés pour les véhicules routiers. Ces batteries sont toutes appelées batteries d’accumulateur. La présente Norme européenne décrit les logements de batteries utilisables dans le compartiment moteur et destinées à être installées à l’abri de la lumière. Les batteries de la présente Norme européenne ne proposent pas de fonctions supplémentaires pour les conditions particulières de protection contre la lumière. Par conséquent, les batteries offrant une protection limitée contre la lumière doivent être traitées comme un cas particulier. La présente Norme européenne a pour objet de décrire les propriétés des logements de batterie utilisés dans les véhicules à combustion au moyen de modes opératoires d’examen uniforme, et en définissant les exigences quant aux matières premières et à la partie complète. Le mode opératoire d’essai et les exigences liés au logement complet sont décrits dans la partie principale. Les modes opératoires d'essai relatifs aux matières premières sont déterminés dans l'Annexe A. L’Annexe B, qui n’est pas normative, recommande les modes opératoires d’essai possibles relatifs aux propriétés du matériau des logements.

Ta evropski standard zajema večcelična baterijska ohišja, proizvedena iz polipropilena kot prednostnega materiala za svinčeno-kislinske baterije kot naprave za shranjevanje energije za zagonske motorje z izgorevanjem, za osvetljavo in za dodatno opremo, ki se uporablja v cestnih vozilih. Vse te baterije se navajajo kot zaganjalne baterije. Ta evropski standard opisuje baterijska ohišja za baterije, uporabne znotraj prostora za vgradnjo motorja in za namestitve pod pogoji varovanja pred svetlobo. Baterije tega evropskega standarda nimajo dodatnih lastnosti za posebno varovanje pred svetlobo. Potemtakem se baterije z omejenim varovanjem pred svetlobo štejejo kot posebni primer. Namen tega evropskega standarda je opisati lastnosti baterijskih ohišij za uporabo v vozilih z izgorevanjem s pomočjo enotnih postopkov preverjanja in z opredelitvijo zahtev za surovino in dokončan del. Preskusni postopek in zahteve za dokončano ohišje so opisani v glavnem delu. Preskusni postopki za surovino so določeni v Dodatku A. Dodatek B priporoča možne preskusne postopke za lastnosti materiala, vzetega iz dokončanega ohišja, ki niso normativni.
