This document specifies requirements for single stage and multi-stage centrifugal pumps with mechanical seal or soft packing for use in automatic sprinkler systems and is for use with EN 12845 and EN 17451 .
This document is applicable for the following pumps, independent of installed orientation (vertical, horizontal or sloped according to the manufacturer indications):
-   end suction pumps (close coupled or long coupled) of the back pull-out type pump;
-   axial horizontal split case pumps;
-   ring section pumps including multistage single or multi outlet;
-   single or multistage inline pumps (pump with inlet and outlet in line);
-   submersible motor borehole pumps.
This document is also applicable to vertical turbine pumps.

This document specifies requirements and test methods for early suppression and fast response (ESFR) sprinklers with a nominal discharge coefficient of 200 (pendent and upright), 240 (pendent and upright), 320 (pendent), 360 (pendent), 400 (pendent) and 480 (pendent) l/min/(bar)1/2.

This document specifies requirements for the construction and performance of residential sprinklers as well as test methods for their type approval, which are operated by a change of state of an element or bursting of a glass bulb under the influence of heat, for use only in automatic sprinkler systems for domestic and residential applications as defined in EN 16925:− .
This standard does not cover representative fire and other tests for special sprinklers that are intended to provide for specific fire hazards, nor does it cover fire and other tests for sprinklers for commercial and industrial sprinkler systems as in EN 12845. This document specifies requirements for earthquake protection of automatic sprinkler systems in accordance with EN 12845. This document applies only to locations in earthquake zones in accordance to EN 1998-1:2004, 3.2.11 and for area subject to peak ground acceleration above 9 % of g.
This document does not cover all legislative requirements. In certain countries specific national regulations apply and take precedence over this document. This part of EN 12259 specifies requirements, test methods, evaluation of conformity and marking of deluge
alarm valves with a nominal size range DN40 to DN250 intended to be used in fire protection water spray
systems.
This European Standard does not cover elastomeric sleeve type valves and does not include rules for design,
installation and maintenance of fire protection water spray systems.
Auxiliary components and attachments to deluge alarm valves are not covered by this part of EN 12259 with the
exception of automatic drain valves.

This document specifies requirements and gives recommendations for the design, installation, water supplies and backflow prevention, commissioning, maintenance and testing of fixed residential fire sprinkler systems in buildings for residential occupancies.
This document is intended for use by those concerned with purchasing, designing, installing, testing, inspecting, approving, operating and maintaining automatic residential sprinkler systems, in order that such equipment will function as intended throughout its life.
This document identifies construction details of buildings which are the minimum necessary for satisfactory performance of residential sprinkler systems complying with this standard.

This document does not cover situations such as arson where fires of a malicious intent may be started in multiple locations simultaneously.

This European Standard covers only the types of sprinkler specified in EN 12259 1 (see Annex L).

This standard does not deal with sprinkler systems.

This European Standard specifies requirements for construction and performance of water motor alarm for use in conjunction with alarm valves conforming to EN 12259-2:1997, EN 12259-3:199x and EN 12259-9:199x used in automatic sprinkler systems complying with EN 12845:1997 and water spray systems conforming EN xxxx. Type approval tests and a recommended test schedule for type approval testing are also given. Auxiliary components or attachments to water motor alarms are not covered by this Part of EN 12259.

This European Standard specifies requirements for construction and performance of dry alarm valve assemblies, accelerators and exhausters used in automatic sprinkler systems conforming to prEN 12845 'Automatic sprinkler systems: Design and Installation'. Auxiliary components and attachments to dry alarm valve assemblies, accelerators and exhausters are not covered by this standard.

This European standard specifies requirements for construction and performance and tests for water flow detectors for use in wet pipe automatic sprinkler systems conforming to EN 12845 «Fixed firefighting systems - Automatic sprinkler systems- Design and Installation» .
Auxiliary components and attachments to water flow detectors are not covered by this standard.

This Part of EN 12259 specifies requirements for construction and performance of dry alarm valve assemblies, accelerators and exhausters used in automatic sprinkler systems conforming to annexes A and B of prEN 12845 Fixed firefighting systems - Automatic sprinkler systems - Design and Installation. Auxiliary components and attachments to dry alarm valve assemblies, accelerators and exhausters are not covered by this standard.

This document specifies requirements and test methods for spray pattern sprinklers with a k-factor of at least K160, extended coverage (EC) sprinklers of at least K80, extended coverage storage (ECS) sprinklers of at least K200 and control mode special application (CMSA) sprinklers of all k-factors.
This document does not apply to concealed, conventional, flat spray, flush and recessed sprinklers.

This document applies only to locations in earthquake zones in accordance with EN 1998 1:2004, 3.2.1 and the Nationally Determined Parameters.
NOTE   The requirements in this document are based on the principle that certain peak ground acceleration values are considered as an earthquake which require special means. Attention is drawn to EN 1998 1:2004, where a peak ground acceleration above 0,08 g (0,78 m/s2) is considered an earthquake risk. Additional characteristics, NDP and/or NCI can exist in some countries as well as national annexes.
The principles defined in this document can be applicable to other water based fixed manual or automatic fire fighting systems, according to local requirements.

This document specifies design, assembly, installation and commissioning requirements for pump sets for use in sprinkler systems conforming to EN 12845. Where applicable, it can also be used in other water based fixed firefighting systems, including hydrants and hose reels.

Modification of Clause 21, including addition of Annex Q

These guidelines describe requirements and test methods for the approval of sprinkler pumps. The type approval testing of sprinkler pumps can be carried out at the manufacturers site. Sprinkler pumps include centralfugal pumps used to deliver water in fixed sprinkler, water spray and foam systems. They are started up only in the event of fire and for periodic testing purposes. The basic requirements for sprinkler pumps shall be that they are constantly ready for use at all times and shall operate reliably.
