Safety of machinery - Safety requirements for the design and construction of paper making and finishing machines - Part 26: Roll packaging machines

This European Standard applies to roll packaging machines for use in papermaking and applies together with EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010. It deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and hazardous events relevant to roll packaging machines, when used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clause 4).
This document is not applicable to roll packaging machines which are manufactured before the date of publication as an EN.

Sie behandelt alle signifikanten Gefährdungen, Gefährdungssituationen und Gefährdungsereignisse für Rollenpackmaschinen, die bestimmungsgemäß und unter den vom Hersteller vorzusehenden Bedingungen verwendet werden (siehe Abschnitt 4). Elle traite de l’ensemble des phénomènes dangereux et situations et événements dangereux significatifs qui concernent les machines à emballer les bobines, quand celles-ci sont utilisées conformément à leur destination et dans les conditions prévues par le fabricant (voir Article 4).
Le présent document ne s’applique pas aux machines à emballer les bobines fabriquées avant sa date de publication en tant que norme EN.

The machinery concerned and the extent to which hazards, hazardous situations and events are covered are indicated in the scope of this document. For machines that have been designed and built according to the provisions of this C standard, the following stipulation applies: Where provisions of this type C standard are different from those which are stated in type A or B standards or from provisions made in EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010, the provisions of this type C standard take precedence over the provisions of the other standards. In addition, the machine shall be designed according to the principles of EN ISO 12100 for hazards relevant but not significant which are not dealt with by this standard (for example, sharp edges of the machine frame). The common requirements of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010 shall also be satisfied unless amended by this clause.

For further guidance in connection with inherently safe design measures, see 6.2 of EN ISO 12100:2010 and for safeguarding measures, see 6.3 of EN ISO 12100:2010. 5.2 Workplaces, access stairs, catwalks, passageways Workplaces, access stairs, catwalks and passageways shall comply with 5.5 of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010,

EN ISO 14122-2:2001 and EN ISO 14122-3:2001. 5.3

Emergency stop device 5.3.1 An emergency stop device with a sufficient number of appropriately positioned, manually applied actuators (e.g. mushroom-head buttons) shall be provided and shall comply with the requirements of 5.7 of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010 and EN ISO 13850:2008. The emergency stop function shall act on all hazards of the machine including the integrated conveyors and robots.

5.3.2 The control system of the emergency stop device shall comply with at least Performance Level PL d of EN ISO 13849-1:2008 or Safety Integrity Level SIL 2 of EN 62061:2005. 5.3.3 In addition to emergency stop manual actuators provided on the control panels of the machine, such actuators shall also be located in the vicinity of danger zones in such a way as to allow easy operation.

EN 1034-26:2012 (E) 11 5.4 Control systems and actuators 5.4.1 The requirements of 5.14 of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010 shall be satisfied. Manual actuators provided for starting hazardous movements shall be safeguarded against inadvertent actuation. 5.4.2 Safety-related parts of the control system shall satisfy the requirements of the following standards:  EN ISO 13849-1:2008 and EN ISO 13849-2:2008 or EN 62061:2005.

For the recommended application of these standards related to the technology (hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, electronic, complex electronic) see Table 1 of EN ISO 13849-1:2008 and Table 1 of EN 62061:2005.

5.4.3 The validation of safety functions shall be made in accordance with EN ISO 13849-2:2008 or in accordance with Clause 8 of EN 62061:2005. 5.5 Isolation and energy dissipation, prevention of unexpected start-up Energy dissipation and isolation of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic power supply sources shall be ensured by the means stipulated in 5.8 of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010. EN 1037:1995+A1:2008 shall be complied with. 5.6 Make-ready and maintenance If for make-ready or maintenance movements of machinery parts are required these shall be initiated and maintained by hold-to-run controls. Hold-to-run devices shall be located in such a way that the operator has full view of the danger point and shall be positioned in accordance with EN ISO 13855:2010. The related control system shall comply with at least Performance Level PL c of EN ISO 13849-1:2008 or Safety Integrity Level SIL 1 of EN 62061:2005. SIST EN 1034-26:2012

EN 1034-26:2012 (E) 12 5.7 Noise The requirements of 5.15 of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010 shall be satisfied. 5.8 Integrated lighting The requirements of 5.18 of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010 and EN 1837:1999+A1:2009 shall be satisfied. 5.9 Electrical equipment 5.9.1 The requirements of 5.23 of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010 and the requirements of Clauses 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17 and 18 of EN 60204-1:2006 shall be satisfied. 5.9.2 The requirements of EN 61000-6-2:2005 shall be satisfied. 5.10 Hydraulic equipment The requirements of EN ISO 4413:2010 and 5.5 shall be satisfied. 5.11 Pneumatic equipment The requirements of EN ISO 4414:2010 and 5.5 shall be satisfied. 5.12 Ergonomic principles The requirements of 5.22 of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010 shall be satisfied. The design principles shall be in accordance with EN 614-1:2006+A1:2009, EN 614-2:2000+A1:2008, EN 894-1:1997+A1:2008 and

EN 894-2:1997+A1:2008. Of special importance is the ergonomic design of the workplaces for the following operations:  insertion of the packaging material rolls into the unwind,  threading of the packaging material web,  head disc handling,  interaction with displays and manual actuators for controlling machine operation. 5.13 Power transmission elements

Power transmission elements shall be safeguarded in accordance with 5.2 of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010, EN 953:1997+A1:2009 and EN ISO 13857:2008. 5.14 Hot surfaces Contact with hot surfaces, for example on the heating plates of the head disc press and on hotmelt glue jets, shall be prevented by the safety measures described under 5.17 of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010. If contact cannot be avoided by technical measures a warning sign "burning hazard" shall be displayed in the area of the heating plates in the head disc press and in the area of hotmelt glue jets. Assessment to determine the need for protective measures shall be in accordance with EN ISO 13732-1:2008. 5.15 Fire The requirements of EN 13478:2001+A1:2008 and 5.19 of EN 1034-1:2000+A1:2010 shall be satisfied. Special attention shall be given to fire protection on hydraulic systems and the risk of leakage of hydraulic oil especially in the vicinity of hot surfaces.
