Environmental labels and declarations - Development of product category rules (ISO/TS 14027:2017)

ISO/TS 14027:2017 provides principles, requirements and guidelines for developing, reviewing, registering and updating PCR within a Type III environmental declaration or footprint communication programme based on life cycle assessment (LCA) according to ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 as well as ISO 14025, ISO 14046 and ISO/TS 14067.
It also provides guidance on how to address and integrate additional environmental information, whether or not it is based on LCA in a coherent and scientifically sound manner according to ISO 14025.

ISO/TS 14027:2017 fournit les principes, les exigences et les lignes directrices pour le développement, la revue, l'enregistrement et la mise à jour des PCR dans le cadre d'un programme de déclarations environnementales de Type III ou de communication d'empreinte fondé sur l'analyse du cycle de vie (ACV), conformément à l'ISO 14040 et l'ISO 14044 ainsi que l'ISO 14025, l'ISO 14046 et l'ISO/TS 14067.
ISO/TS 14027:2017 fournit également des recommandations relatives à la manière de traiter et d'intégrer les informations environnementales additionnelles, qu'elles soient fondées ou non sur l'ACV, d'une façon cohérente et scientifiquement fiable conformément à l'ISO 14025.

This Technical Specification (CEN/TS) was approved by CEN on 8 January 2018 for provisional application.

The period of validity of this CEN/TS is limited initially to three years. After two years the members of CEN will be requested to
submit their comments, particularly on the question whether the CEN/TS can be converted into a European Standard.

CEN members are required to announce the existence of this CEN/TS in the same way as for an EN and to make the CEN/TS
available promptly at national level in an appropriate form. It is permissible to keep conflicting national standards in force (in
parallel to the CEN/TS) until the final decision about the possible conversion of the CEN/TS into an EN is reached.

CEN members are the national standards bodies of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia,
Finland, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania,
Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland,
Turkey and United Kingdom.

The text of ISO/TS 14027:2017 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 207 “Environmental
management” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as
CEN ISO/TS 14027:2018.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
According to the CEN-CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the
