Swap bodies - Coding, identification and marking

1.1 This European Standard provides a system for the identification and presentation of information about swap bodies. The identification system is intended for general application, for example in documentation, control and communications (including automatic data processing systems), as well as for display on the swap bodies and other non ISO containers (i.e.: which dimensions and testing parameters differ from those defined by the applicable ISO standards) used in European transport. The methods of displaying identification and certain other data (including operational data) on swap bodies by means of permanent marks are included.

Wechselbehälter - Kodierung, Identifizierung und Kennzeichnung

1.1 Diese Europäische Norm stellt ein System zur Identifizierung von Wechselbehältern sowie für das Anzeigen der Informationen am Wechselbehälter selbst bereit. Das Identifizierungssystem ist sowohl für die allgemeine Anwendung zu benutzen, wie z.B. bei der Dokumentation, Steuerung und Kommunikation (einschließlich automatischer Datenverarbeitungssysteme), als auch für das Anzeigen der Informationen an Wechselbehältern und "Nicht-ISO-Containern" (deren Dimensionen und Testparameter z.B. von den ISO-Normen abweichen) die im europäischen Transport benutzt werden.

1.1 La présente norme européenne établit un système pour l'identification et la présentation d'informations relatives aux caisses mobiles. Ce système d'identification est prévu pour une application générale, p.e. pour la documentation, le contrôle et les communications (y compris les systèmes de traitement automatique des données), aussi bien que pour l'affichage sur les caisses mobiles et autres conteneurs non ISO (c.-à-d. ceux dont les dimensions et les valeurs d'essais diffèrent de celles définies par les normes ISO applicables) utilisés en transport européen.

b)   a coding system for data on ILU size, with corresponding marks for their display;
c)   mandatory operational marks;
d)   physical presentation of the marks on the ILU.
This part of the European Standard prescribes the system of operational data for the codification of the swap bodies. The codification assigns a maximum profile for the cover area available at the rail tracks to the swap bodies in order to enable the selection of those rail tracks on which these swap bodies can be transported without any danger.
This part of the European Standard prescribes furthermore the additional operational markings, which are necessary for railway operation.
This European Standard does not cover temporary operational marks of any kind, permanent marks, data plates, etc. which may be required by intergovernmental agreements, national legislation or non-governmental organisations other than CEN.

Definitions from this document are used to support different recognized work flows in the construction and facility management industry sector, representing information deliveries. Such information deliveries can be described according to ISO 29481.
Different implementation levels of this document can be defined to better support multiple information deliveries, they are referred to as a Model View Definition (MVD). Each MVD identifies which subset of the definitions of this document imposes requirements for implementation in software applications. Conforming software applications need to identify the model view definition they conform to when applying for software certification.
