Industrial furnaces and associated processing equipment - Safety - Part 2: Combustion and fuel handling systems (ISO 13577-2:2023)
This document specifies the safety requirements for combustion and fuel handling systems that are part of industrial furnaces and associated processing equipment (TPE), including single and multiple burner systems in thermoprocessing equipment and machines.
NOTE The general safety requirements common to TPE are provided in ISO 13577-1:2016. ISO 13577-1:2016, Annex B also includes a list of processes for which industrial furnaces and heating systems covered by the ISO 13577 series are used.
This document deals with significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to combustion and fuel handling systems as listed in Annex A, when used as intended and under the conditions for use as described in the instruction handbook.
This document covers:
— fuel pipework downstream of and including the manual isolating valve;
— combustion air supply (including oxygen and oxygen enriched combustion air) and flue gas system;
— burner(s), burner system and ignition device;
— functional requirements for safety related control system.
This document applies to any oxidation of gaseous and liquid fuels with air or other gases containing free oxygen to release thermal energy in TPE. Annex B includes examples of gaseous and liquid fuels.
For thermal or catalytic post combustion and waste incineration, this document applies only to auxiliary burners designed to start-up and/or support the process.
The pressure hazard of the piping and components covered by this document is within the maximum pressure/size relationship of category I as specified in Annex C.
This document also gives the necessary requirements regarding information for use.
This document does not cover hazards from heating generated by electricity.
This document does not deal with the hazards created by the release of flammable substances from the products processed in the TPE.
This document is not applicable to combustion and fuel handling systems:
— of gas welding and allied processes;
— up-stream of the TPE manual isolating valve.
This document is not applicable to industrial furnaces and associated processing equipment (TPE), including single and multiple burner systems in thermoprocessing equipment and machines manufactured before the date of its publication.
This document is not applicable to blast furnaces, converters (in steel plants), boilers, fired heaters (including reformer furnaces) in the petrochemical and chemical industries.
This document is not applicable to electrical cabling and power cabling upstream of the TPE control panel/protective system.

Dieser Teil von ISO 13577 legt die Sicherheitsanforderungen an Feuerungen und Brennstoffführungs-systeme fest, die Teil von Industrieöfen und zugehörigen Prozessanlagen (TPE) sind, einschließlich Einzel- und Mehrbrennersystem in Thermoprozessanlagen und maschinen.
ANMERKUNG Für TPE übliche allgemeine Sicherheitsanforderungen werden in ISO 13577 1:2016 festgelegt (siehe Einleitung). ISO 13577 1:2016, Anhang B enthält auch eine Liste von Prozessen, für die in ISO 13577 behandelte industrielle Öfen und Feuerungssysteme verwendet werden können.
Dieser Teil von ISO 13577 behandelt die in Anhang A aufgeführten signifikanten Gefährdungen, Gefährdungssituationen und Ereignisse für Feuerungen und Brennstoffführungssystemen auf der Grundlage, dass diese wie vorgesehen und unter den in der Betriebsanleitung beschriebenen Bedingungen eingesetzt werden.
Dieser Teil von ISO 13577 gilt für:
— Brennstoff-Leitungssystem in Strömungsrichtung beginnend mit dem handbetätigten Hauptabsperrventil;
— Zuführung von Verbrennungsluft (einschließlich Sauerstoff oder sauerstoffangereicherter Verbrennungsluft) und Abgassystem;
— Brenner, Brennersystem und Zündeinrichtungen;
— funktionale Anforderungen an sicherheitsbezogene Steuerungen.
Dieser Teil von ISO 13577 ist anwendbar für alle Arten von Oxidation oder Verbrennung von gasförmigen oder flüssigen Brennstoffen mit Luft oder anderen Gasen, die freien Sauerstoff enthalten, die zur Freisetzung von Wärmeenergie in TPE dienen. Anhang B enthält Beispiele für gasförmige und flüssige Brennstoffe.
ANMERKUNG Werden andere Brennstoffe wie z. B. Wasserstoff verwendet, wird eine zusätzliche Risikobewertung durchgeführt, um die Eignung der Komponenten usw. nachzuweisen.
Bei thermischen oder katalytischen Nachverbrennungsanlagen und Müllverbrennungen ist dieser Teil von ISO 13577 nur anwendbar auf Hilfsbrenner, die zum Anfahren und/oder zur Unterstützung des Prozesses dienen.
Die Druckgefährdung der Rohrleitungen und Komponenten, die in diesem Teil von ISO 13577 abgedeckt sind, liegt innerhalb des maximalen Druck-/Größenverhältnisses der Kategorie I, wie im Anhang C festgelegt.
Dieser Teil von ISO 13577 beinhaltet auch notwendige Anforderungen hinsichtlich der Benutzerinformation.
Dieser Teil von ISO 13577 behandelt nicht die durch elektrische Beheizung entstehenden Gefährdungen.
Dieser Teil von ISO 13577 behandelt nicht die Gefährdungen, die durch Freisetzung von entzündbaren Substanzen aus den in der TPE verarbeitenden Produkten entstehen.
Dieser Teil von ISO 13577 ist nicht anwendbar für Feuerungen und Brennstoffführungssysteme:
— von Gasschweiß- und verwandten Prozessen;
— stromaufwärts des handbetätigten TPE Hauptabsperrventils.
Dieser Teil von ISO 13577 gilt nicht für Hochöfen, Konverter (in Stahlwerken), Kessel, befeuerte Wärmeerzeuger (einschließlich Reformeröfen) in der petrochemischen und chemischen Industrie.

Le présent document spécifie les prescriptions de sécurité relatives aux équipements de combustion et de manutention des combustibles qui font partie des fours industriels et des équipements associés (TPE), y compris les systèmes de brûleurs simples et multiples dans les équipements et machines thermiques.
NOTE Les prescriptions générales de sécurité communes aux TPE sont listées dans l'ISO 13577-1:2016. L'ISO 13577-1:2016, Annexe B comprend également une liste de procédés pour lesquels les fours industriels et les systèmes de chauffage couverts par la série ISO 13577 sont utilisés.

En ce qui concerne la post-combustion thermique ou catalytique et l'incinération des déchets, le présent document s'applique uniquement aux brûleurs auxiliaires conçus pour démarrer et/ou soutenir le procédé.
Le phénomène dangereux engendré par la pression dans la tuyauterie et les composants couverts par le présent document correspond à la relation pression maximale/dimensions de catégorie I spécifiée dans l'Annexe C.

— en amont du robinet de barrage à commande manuelle du TPE.
Le présent document ne s’applique pas aux fours industriels et équipements de traitement associés (TPE), y compris les systèmes à brûleurs simples et multiples dans l’équipement et les machines de traitement de chaleur fabriqués avant sa date de publication.
Le présent document n'est pas applicable aux hauts-fourneaux, aux convertisseurs (des aciéries), aux chaudières, aux appareils de chauffage (y compris les fours de reformage) dans les industries pétrochimiques et chimiques.

This document (EN ISO 13577-2:2023) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 244
"Industrial furnaces and associated processing equipment" in collaboration with Technical Committee
CEN/TC 186 “Industrial thermoprocessing - Safety” the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2024, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by June 2024.
