Ta del standarda IEC 61788 določa metode preskušanja, ki se uporabljajo za potrjevanje mehanskih, električnih in superprevodnih lastnosti praktičnih superprevodnih (SC) žic. Žica velja za praktično, če jo je mogoče dobaviti v dovolj dolgih neprekinjenih dolžinah v okviru običajnih komercialnih poslov za gradnjo naprav.
