This amendment A1 modifies the European Standard EN 60598-2-11:2013; it was approved by CENELEC on 2022-08-08. CENELEC
members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the
status of a national standard without any alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on application to the CEN-CENELEC
Management Centre or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language made by translation under the
responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre has the same status as
the official versions.
CENELEC members are the national electrotechnical committees of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic,

"Luminaires" of IEC/TC 34 "Lighting" was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and approved
by CENELEC as EN 60598-2-11:2013/A1:2022.
The following dates are fixed:
• latest date by which the document has to be implemented at national (dop) 2023-05-08
level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement
• latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the (dow) 2025-08-08
document have to be withdrawn

This part of IEC 62722 covers specific performance and environmental requirements for luminaires, incorporating electric light sources for operation from supply voltages up to 1 000 V. Unless otherwise detailed, performance data covered under the scope of this document are for the luminaires in a condition representative of new manufacture, with any specified initial aging procedures completed. This document covers requirements for luminaires to support energy efficient use and responsible environmental management to the end of life. The object of this document is to provide a set of requirements which are considered to be generally applicable to most types of luminaires. Where additional performance requirements for specific types of light source are relevant, these are specified in the IEC 62722-2 series. The IEC 62722-2 series can also cover a wider scope of performance aspects appropriate to the particular light source technology. Semi-luminaires are not covered under the scope of this document. For some types of luminaires (e.g. decorative or household) the provision of performance data under the scope of this document is not appropriate.

The luminaires, being connected in parallel, are supplied via freely suspended continuous supporting conductors or profiles, the current in the ELV part of the system not exceeding 25 A. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1996 and Amendment 1:2000. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following technical changes with respect to the previous edition (there are no major technical changes, see Annex A): a) The title has been modified to allow the inclusion of other light sources; b) The scope has been updated to be aligned with the other parts of the IEC 60598-2 series and to include other light sources; c) Normative references and the reference to transformer and controlgear standards have been updated; d) The short circuit test (23.7.6.1 and 23.7.6.2) was removed and reference is now made to the same test in Part 1.
