BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 1886, Textile glass - Procedure for sampling batches or consignments of textile
glass continuous filament yam, staple fibre yarn and roving packages, was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 6 1,
Plastics, the Secretariat of which is held by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Work on this question led to the adoption of Draft IS0 Recommendation No. 1886, which was circulated to
aii the IS0 Member Bodies for enquiry in October 1969. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of an
editorial nature, by the following Member Bodies :

PROCEDURE FOR SAMPLING BATCHES OR CONSIGNMENTS
OF TEXTILE GLASS CONTINUOUS FILAMENT YARN,
STAPLE FIBRE YARN AND ROVING PACKAGES
1. SCOPE
This IS0 Recommendation specifies the procedure for sampling textile glass continuous filament yam,
staple fibre yarn and roving packages, prior to establishing (with a given precision) some of the characteristics
of these yarns.
This procedure aims at obtaining samples as representative as possible of the whole batch or consignment for
calculating the mean value of the property to be measured at the 95 "/O probability level and with a stated
precision (laid down in appropriate product specifications or by agreement between purchaser and supplier).
2. DEFINITIONS
2.1 Batch or lot
In the case of inspection after manufacturing, a batch or lot consists of the total production of one
single kind of product package, made by one or several identical machines, operating under identical
conditions during a given period.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 1886, Verre textile - Mode d’échantillonnage applicable a des lots d’enroulements
de fils de silionne, de fils de verranne et de stratifils, a été élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 6 1, Matières
plastiques, dont le Secrétariat est assuré par 1’American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question aboutirent à l’adoption du Projet de Recommandation IS0 NU 1886 qui
fut soumis, en octobre 1969, à l’enquête de tous les Comites Membres de 1’ISO. I1 fut approuvé, sous réserve de
quelques modifications d’ordre rédactionnel, par les Comités Membres suivants : L

D’ENROULEMENTS DE FILS DE SILIONNE,
DE FILS DE VERRANNE ET DE STRATIFILS
1. OBJET
La présente Recommandation IS0 fixe le mode d’échantillonnage applicable à des lots d’enroulements de
fils de silionne, de fils de verranne et de stratifils, en vue de déterminer (avec une précision définie) certaines
caractéristiques de ces produits.
Ce mode opératoire a pour objet d’obtenir des échantillons aussi représentatifs que possible de l’ensemble d’un
lot de fabrication ou d’expédition pour calculer la valeur moyenne de la caractéristique à mesurer au niveau de
probabilité de 95 70 et avec une précision donnée (soit dans les spécifications appropriées du produit, soit par
accord entre acheteur et vendeur).

2.1 Lot de fabrication
Dans le cas d’un contrôle de fabrication, un lot est la totalité de la production d’une même sorte
d’enroulements du produit, par une ou plusieurs machines semblables, fonctionnant dans les mêmes
