Il s’agit :
-   du raccordement fixe côté fournisseur ;
-   du tuyau flexible ;
-   du raccordement fixe côté consommateur ;

Plovila za celinske vode - Povezave in cevni priključki za dobavo pitne vode

Ta evropski standard določa zasnovo, mere in tehnične zahteve za povezave in cevovode za shranjevanje pitne vode za plovila za celinske vode.
Ti so:
– stalna povezava na dovodni strani;
– cevovod;
– stalna povezava na strani porabe;

Overview - EN 16865:2016 for inland navigation vessels and potable water

EN 16865:2016 is a CEN European standard that specifies the design, dimensions and technical requirements for connections and assembled hoses used to transfer and store potable water on inland navigation vessels. It covers fixed supply and consumer-side connections, pipelines, and retrofit connections for vessels with deck‑level closure devices. The standard standardizes coupling types, thread sizes and installation principles to ensure hygienic, secure and interoperable potable water bunkering.

Key topics and technical requirements

  • Scope and components: fixed supply-side connection, pipeline, fixed consumer-side connection, and retrofitting connection for vessels with internal pipe thread per EN ISO 228-1.
  • Couplings and dummy caps: use of C‑type couplings per DIN 14307-1 / DIN 14302 and dummy couplings per DIN 14311 to prevent contamination when not connected.
  • Thread and pipe dimensions: consumer-side pipe connection with ISO 228 - G 2 A thread (20 mm length, nominal DN 50); nominal coupling size 52 = C. Retrofitting connectors require a minimum 300 mm pipe with ISO 228 threads on both ends.
  • Installation rules: consumer-side pipe ends to be welded or fixed with the mating end at least 300 mm above deck; pipeline bend radius and ease-of-access - pipe bend radius of 500 mm for connection handling.
  • Materials and marking: pipes and fittings must meet the material requirements in the standard and be labelled appropriately; dummy couplings should be secured (e.g., chain and S‑hook) and lockable.
  • Exclusions: the standard does not govern electrostatic charge prevention or overfilling measures. National drinking water regulations remain applicable; EN 16865 supplements those regulations.

Practical applications and users

EN 16865 is intended for stakeholders involved in potable water systems on inland vessels and at supply points:

  • Shipbuilders, naval architects and marine engineers specifying potable water systems
  • Vessel operators and fleet managers implementing bunkering interfaces
  • Onshore supply facilities and bunker boat designers to ensure compatible couplings
  • Manufacturers of hoses, couplings and retrofit connector kits
  • Surveyors and port authorities verifying conformity with European practice

Benefits include improved hygiene, reduced risk of contamination, easier handling and interoperability between supply and consumer interfaces.

Related standards and references

  • EN ISO 228-1 (pipe threads where pressure-tight connections are not made on the thread)
  • DIN 14307-1, DIN 14302 (C couplings), DIN 14311 (dummy couplings)
  • EN ISO 9093-1 (pipe clamps / seacocks), EN 10220 (pipe dimensions) Note: national drinking water regulations continue to apply; EN 16865 supplements them.
