Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use - Part 2-051: Particular requirements for laboratory equipment for mixing and stirring (IEC 61010-2-051:2015)

This part of IEC 61010 is applicable to electrically operated laboratory equipment and its
accessories for mechanical mixing and stirring, where mechanical energy influences the
shape or size or homogeneity of materials and their accessories. Such devices may contain
heating elements.
NOTE If all or part of the equipment falls within the scope of one or more other Part 2 standards of IEC 61010 as
well as within the scope of this standard, consideration is to be given to those other Part 2 standards. The standard
for equipment which contain heating devices is IEC 61010-2-010.

L'IEC 61010-2-051:2015 est applicable aux appareils de laboratoire électriques et à leurs accessoires, destinés à mélanger et à agiter, et qui, par l'énergie mécanique dispensée, modifient la forme, la taille ou l'homogénéité des matériaux et de leurs accessoires. De tels appareils peuvent contenir des éléments de chauffage. Elle a le statut d'une publication groupée de sécurité conformément au Guide IEC 104. Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition parue en 2003. Cette édition constitue une révision technique et inclut les modifications suivantes par rapport à la deuxième édition:
- exclusion des appareils dont la taille et le poids rendent peu probables les mouvements involontaires, de l'essai de chute à l'Article 8,
- ajout de l'exigence à l'Article 15, pour les systèmes de verrouillage contenant des composants électriques/électroniques ou programmables,
- reformulation des notes selon les Directives ISO/IEC.

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote
international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,
Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC
Publication(s)”). Their preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested
in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-
governmental organizations liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely
