Dieses Dokument legt die Anforderungen an den Aufbau, die Sicherheit, die Eignungsprüfung und die Dokumentation von modularen oder werkseitig angepassten Wasserstoffgas-Erzeugungsgeräten oder -Erzeugungssystemen, im Folgenden Wasserstofferzeuger genannt, fest, die elektrochemische Reaktionen für die Elektrolyse von Wasser nutzen, um Wasserstoff zu erzeugen.
Dieses Dokument gilt für Wasserstofferzeuger, die die folgenden Arten eines Ionentransportmediums nutzen:
- wässrige alkalische (basische) Elektrolyte wie Kaliumhydroxid- oder Natriumhydroxidlösungen;
- wässrige saure Elektrolyte wie verdünnte Schwefelsäure;
- Festpolymermaterial mit angehängten sauren funktionellen Gruppen wie Säure-Protonenaustauschmembran (PEM, en: proton exchange membrane);
- Festpolymermaterial mit angehängten basischen funktionellen Gruppen wie Anionenaustauschmembran (AEM, en: anion exchange membrane).
Dieses Dokument gilt für Wasserstofferzeuger, die für industrielle, gewerbliche und häusliche Anwendungen sowohl im Innenraum als auch im Freien vorgesehen sind.
Dieses Dokument enthält Hinweise zu Wasserstofferzeugern, die auch Sauerstoff für industrielle und gewerb
liche Anwendungen bereitstellen; hierzu können jedoch zusätzliche Uberlegungen notwendig sein.
Folgendes wird aus dem Anwendungsbereich dieses Dokuments ausgeschlossen:
- Wasserstofferzeuger für häusliche Anwendungen, die als Produkt auch Sauerstoff bereitstellen;
- Wasserstofferzeuger, die auch zur Elektrizitätserzeugung genutzt werden können, wie z.B. reversible Brennstoffzellen (siehe IEC62282-8-101, IEC62282-8-102 und IEC62282-8-201);
- Wasserstofferzeuger, die Festoxid-Elektrolyte nutzen (siehe IEC62282-8-101 und IEC62282-8-201).
